I have a number of DMD games with PAC colorization files that don't color other than the default 4-color that comes with VPinMAME. PAL files work, and I'm not sure about VNI files. But PAC files definitely DON'T work.

I have completely installed FlexDMD, I created the altcolor folder in VPinMAME35, I created folders for the ROMS I have that use DMDs, and I put the PAL, VNI or PAC files in those folders. Yet when I run the table, the PAC files definitely don't colorize the DMD like PAL files do.

Anyone able to help?

Hi

I will try to help you.

At first it would be better to update your Vpinmame from 3.5 to newest release version 3.6.  Download it from GITHUB.

I´m using 3.6 from Frebruary.01.2024. I had others issues with new release but no matter.

I don´t know which VPX version and release you are playing. I´m playing with VPX 10.8 - 1975 release, the newest installer edition is VPX 10.8 - 2051.

Well. Download from GIThub the last DMD extensions 2.3.0.0 32 and 64 bits.

It will be desinstalled the last version that is running.

Then, install first 32 and then 64 bits.

All programs that will need  to run with rom colors (PAL/VNI, PAC and Serum) is already inside it.

Overwriten on VpinMame folder. Don´t forget to make a backup from your last VpinMame folder.

FlexDMD works in another enviroment and needs only the last DMDdevice.dll 32 or 64 bits for correct register.

There is no effect in your issue. It would be better donwload the last release and overwriten on VpinMame folder if you want.

Thanks for your reply. I have already installed the 64-bit version of dmdext-v2.3.0-x64. I don't have VPX.8, but VPX.7. I also have version 3.5 of VPinMAME. Does upgrading any version really make that much difference?

A bit

Depending on kind of table and untill you would like to improve your pinball feeling.

Nowadays most of tables updated needs new VPX 10.8 version, new VpinMame 3.6 version and new Backglass Server version that works in 64 bits.

Some tables only run on VPX 64 bits and some of them need a better hardware.

There are some new scripts sintax that doesn´t belong to the old versions and maybe the table will not work properly.

For .pac colorization to work, you need this in the [global] section of your dmddevice.ini file

; the key to decrypt PAC files, in hex.
vni.key = f0ad135937ffa111c60b24d88ebb2e59

Hi htamas

Agree with you.

The DMD extensions 2.3.0.0 has the new file dmddevice.ini file with this lines

and can fix his pontual issue.

but would be better to keep in mind other new issues for new VPX tables if necessary.

I would never replace my dmddevice.ini file with the one coming from the installation content, since that removes individual settings specific to my setup.

However, this edit must be made in the existing .ini file to get .pac file colorization working.

Yes correct.

Sorry

Thank you to remind me

The last DMD extensions 2.3.0.0. doesn´t change dmddevice.ini as the others last versions.
