I'm having an issue with certain puppacks. Most of my puppacks work fine.  But a few aren't working.

The Street Fighter 2 VPW table (table works fine, pupvideos folder is named "sfight2" just like rom name in the table script "Cgamename". also have the compressed zip folder in vpinmame/roms named "sfight2" all matches up, I ran the display preference files in the pupvideo folder.

Twilight Zone VPW table (I have an older twilight zone table the works fine with the puppack. even though this new one is using the same rom, folder, etc.. tried changing the romset inside table script. nothing is working for me here either. renamed the b2s file to something different so it wouldnt interfere

Medieval Madness Redux 2.3 (same deal, the puppack folder is called "mm_10" just like the rom/gamename in the table script and the rom folder in vpinmame called mm_10. ran the display preference files. tried running with b2s renamed so it doesnt match because i thought maybe it was behind the backglass. but still nothing now just a black screen.

I have maybe 30 puppacks they all work. Only a few aren't working these 3 and maybe a couple more. The majority of the time getting these things to work is so easy just download the puppack throw it into Pupvideos folder with the same name as the rom. and boom it works. I did that with these and I get nothing.

Everything is up to date. puppacks run fine in the puppack tester.

any ideas?

What exactly is the issue with these 3 three pup packs? Do they start or the windows not showing up but you hear sound or what exactly is the issue here?

Did you test the pup packs via pinuppackeditor and do they work there? If you dont see the window maybe you didnt setup the window positions correctly.

Do you have placed the pupinit.bat and pinupplayer.ini into the pup video folder?

Did you make changes in the table script for the pup pack to work which possibly have to be enabled?

The Issue is that they just don't load up. Just getting a black screen, no sounds either. The game plays fine though.

They all work fine when testing in "pinuppackeditor"

Double checked window positions, they are fine (also I have a ton of puppacks that work fine) so I know window positions are fine.

pinupplayer.ini is in my root /pinupsystem folder. not in any pupvideo folders.

pupinit.bat is only found in a few pupvideos/romname/pup pack options folder, but only a few games (Terrifier,Spooky Wednesday, Starship Troopers)

the only .bat files in my pupvideos/romname folders are the .bat files you have to double click to enable what setup you are using.

like "3 screen, NO DMD, Topper on BG  /  2 Screens, DMD and Topper on BG. etc..

The only table script I tried to edit was Twilight Zone VPW mod. Changing "Romset 1" to "Romset 0" which supposedly changes it from tz_94ch, to tz_94h, because thats what rom is listed on the VPuniverse page for Twilight Zone VPW mod.

The other tables scripts I never touched. Just went in and checked the cGameName, made sure my pupvideos folder matched the rom name but never changed anything.

it is worth noting that Twilight Zone puppack is working fine with an older table. just not the VPW mod table.

also the JPsalas street fighter 2 tables works fine with the puppack. just not the new VPW table

Also downloaded a different Medieval Madness table. the new table is using rom mm_109c. so I renamed the Pupvideos folder to mm_109c and the puppack works fine

I'm assuming its just that those 3 tables are not compatible with the puppacks at this point.

So right now im using the Street Fighter II VPW table without a puppack because i think the table is much better than previous versions.

Changed the table on the Medieval Madness, and Twilight Zone to different tables that work with the puppack.

[SOLVED] so I started to take notice that the few tables that weren't working were the few tables that required 64 bit. that ALSO had a puppack. So I downloaded the puppack register x64 file from nail buster.
works fine now.

I'm a little bit confused, which file do you mean? As I know, the whole PinUpSystem/Popper/PunUpPlayer is 32bit executable. Its only the vpx files which were added in 64bit with PUP version 1.5

So did I. Maybe with Baller Installer it is, but I installed everything manually.

So since I noticed that the tables "Cactus Canyon,TZ,SF2" were working fine with PuP on 32bit. but wouldnt with 64bit.

I googled "Pinup popper 64 bit"

First link was to the nailbuster.com

This page.

https://www.nailbust...nup_upgrade_v15

If you scroll down there is a section.

Here i'll copy and paste it.

Note: PinUP Popper remains 32-bit, if you have not upgraded PinUP 64-bit Plugins/Drivers yet, follow the Player Upgrade below AFTER you have upgraded all your other virtual pinball software to 64-bit.

Upgrade PinUP Player v1.5 ONLY

(not needed if you already did Popper above). Note: If you use Popper Frontend then you must update both Popper and player above, this section is for people that use other frontends.

This will update PinUP Player components only.

Make sure you unblock ZIP before using files within zip!!

download link: https:///www.nailbus...v150_beta_3.zip

if you have already updated PinUP Player to 64bit(or don't need 64bit PinUP Player yet):
only step is to copy all the zip files within the PinUPSystem folder(within zip) and paste/overwrite them into your current PinUpSystem folder root.
thats all, upgrade player is complete!

if you want to upgrade PinUP Player to 64bit follow these steps.
Copy and overwrite files from their respective folders.

  • copy all the zip files within the pinupsystem folder(within zip) into your current pinupsystem root folder,
  • copy the x64\b2s\PinUPPlayerB2SDriver folder into your current b2s Plugins64
  • copy all the zip files within the x64\VPINMAME folder into to your current VPINMAME folder inside “visualpinball” folder.
  • go to your VirtualPinballVPINMAME folder and right-click “run as administrator” the PuPRegister_64.bat file.

It was that last line ^ there. where it says to Run the PuPRegister_64.bat file.
Once I did that. all my puppacks were running with 64bit.

Maybe baller installer does this automatically, but I updated every program individually. So these instructions helped me.

ah, thanks I see.

Yeah, I know that description, but its a very confusing part.

When I check the PUP programs from the recent 1.5 version, all files are 32bit files, with the exception of the 2 PUPdriver dlls in the 64bit directory.

"...updated PinUp player to 64bit.." No, there is no 64bit pup exe file, as one can see in taskmanager when PUP is running.

But ok, the important thing was that you updated the B2S and pinmame driver for 64 bit, because a 64bit program like vpx10.8-64bit cannot communicate with a 32bit program
