Hi everyone,

I have been rebuilding a cabinet with visual pinball and pinballx as the front end.

After testing the new box extensively with no issues... I was ready to move the box back to the actual cabinet.

Here is the issue:

I open a VP table.

All buttons work fine... except the plunger.

Plunger is set to enter (has always been set to enter with no issues in the past or in my testing).

When i start a table (ex: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)... add some coins... hit the plunger to "start" the game... no problem.

As soon as the first ball gets dropped into the ramp two things happen:

1) The plunger coil pulls all the way down to the bottom position (on its own... without me touching any button)

2) When i press enter to launch a ball with the plunger nothing happens.   On ANY VP table.

Pinball FX3 works fine.

When i launch directly from Visual Pinball ... same problem.

When I launch from Pinball X wheel menu.... same problem.

Any idea why this might be suddenly happening?

Also.... when I go to the button mapping settings and change the plunger from enter to another key..... example: J   ..... the plunger works perfectly fine when I click 'J' from a keyboard.   But I cannot get the plunger button on the cabinet to then map to J.    So... the enter key specifically appears to be a problem.

When the plunger is set to enter... not even the keyboard enter key works to launch a ball from the plunger.   Any other key does.   Very strange.

Lastly... my "Launch"' button IS also my plunger on my cabinet.   I do not have a plunger that actually pulls back.   I use the launch button and HOLD IT down and then release the ball.

It sounds like your button is stuck?

unplug the wiring harness from the button

launch vpx

does the plunger self move now?

if not, check the button

If it does, check for a wiring short

good place to start

still doing it.   I also tried Family Guy Pinball FX3 table (those tables also have the enter as plunger... and they work fine).. its only Visual Pinball tables where it is happening.  Very strange.

something is sending the enter key is what it sounds like

if the plunger moves right away without touching anything

the controller must be sending that enter is pressed

You don't mention the hardware implementation, but if you're using a standard arcade switch, make sure you connected to the NO (normally open) instead of NC (normally closed) terminal of the switch.
