Hey,

I open here the same thread like VPU-Popper-Help-Forum, because i get no answer there... Sorry for this :-)

I hope someone can help me here. Until recently, my Future Pinball installation worked just like VPX without any problems with the Popper. Pressing Q closed the emulator, pressing O took me to the Popper operations menu, everything was perfect. After my vacation VPX still works without problems, but Future Pinball ignores the Popper keys!

I can start any FP table from the popper, then it runs without problems, but the O key does not open the popper operator menu anymore, the Q key opens this menu with the green cabinet at the bottom of the playfield... I can end the FP-Table currently only with the Esc key, but then I do not land in the Popper but on the Windows Desktop... Does anyone have any advice? What can I do, so that a FP-Table started from the Popper uses the Popperkeys again and not the keys configured in FP?

Thanks arcade

Your problems have nothing to do with FP itself.

Whatever is going on has to with a couple of things. 1) The keys you are using are not good to use with Popper (2) you're not in focus in the FP window when you start FP, so some keys / buttons may not respond.

For FP, do not use the Q or ~ or ESC keys on any other app like Popper.

The ~ and Q keys in FP are reserved for the BAM menu. ESC is used to exit a table with FP, but with Popper you want your Exit Emulator key to not be ESC or what another app uses (you want only Popper to close out FP).

Sort out your keys and buttons in Popper to not use any keys / buttons that FP or VP uses. Then go from there.

Thanks Terry, I'll have to take another look at this at my leisure. I don't know what happened or can't remember. Everything you write worked fine 3 weeks ago, before my vacation. I have not redefined any keys, So far I could use all popper functions without problems even with Future-Pinball, operator menu etc.. I could also exit the FP emulator from the popper with Q-key without problems and ended up in the popper menu, that all works now only with VPX. FP behaves as described. What you mean by "not in focus" that does not make sense to me. I start FP from the popper, the playing field is displayed correctly rotated by 270 degrees on the main screen, the backglass on the small secondary display. I noticed the behavior only after installing your new Alien Legacy table, but I don't think that the FP key behavior is related to it.
I have to look at it all again in peace, as written, until recently everything worked perfectly, even the FP operation from the popper.
Really strange or rather an unpleasant problem.... :-)  All emulators, "except" Future Pinball, show the operation menu on the backglass after launching from the popper and can be exited correctly with Q to the popper menu, Pinball FX, VPX, even Mame....  I am really a little perplexed.
In any case, I have not changed any key bindings...
br and a nice sunday for you
arcade

PS: merci for all your great stuff, you are a genius

FP is the only app the run two fullscreen windows. The FP Backbox (if enabled) will most likely cover the Popper Operator menu on your backglass. If you aren't disable that for the new tables then that may be the reason why.

Hi Terry, that sounds kind of logical, so the covering thing. I tried to turn off the backbox directly in the FP. If you start a table directly from FP, the backglass is now not displayed. If you then start Future Pinball from the popper, the backbox/backglass settings are automatically reactivated and the FP buttons are active again, not the popper buttons are working, so the same problem.
I have now completely reinstalled FP and BAM, as well as the BAM Essentials AIO. I have then also with the PRESETS "FP Cabinet Settings - HD.reg" overwritten my settings in the registry, had to find afterwards... that the FP backglass was now no longer fully displayed.
The reason for this is that I use a FireHD10 as backglass display which is only able to display a resolution of 1622x1014 via a Software driver.
I can only enter this resolution for FP manually in the registry, but then the display is also 100% perfect..:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Future Pinball\GamePlayer
SecondMonitorHeight dez1014
SecondMonitorWidth dez1622

Could possibly my FP backbox monitor ID be the cause of key problems in FP, I use there not 2 but 5:

BackboxMonitorID \.\DISPLAY5

Anyway, despite FP reinstallation, I am still no step closer to solving the problem. The configured popper keys are not used as soon as I start FuturePinball from the popper, but still the keys from the FP configuration.

Originally I had set up the system via the Baller installer. In your documentation you write that the Baller installer sets all settings for FP automatically. Is there perhaps a way to restore these original settings without a complete reinstallation or do you have another idea?
Thanks a lot

Solved!!!

Cause: "Future Pinball.exe" and "FPLoader.exe" (BAM) were started as administrator => this must not be the case with the Popper!

Solution:
=> start "Future Pinball.exe" and "FPLoader.exe" (BAM) as non-administrator or normal Windows user.
1. "Future Pinball.exe" (Properties/Compatibility => "Run program as administrator") was active, but the admin checkbox was grayed out and it was also >>not<< possible to change it via "Change settings for all users
2. "FPLoader.exe" (Properties/Compatibility => "Run program as administrator") was active, but the checkbox was also grayed out => change it via "Change settings for all users" in the new window
switch off "Run program as administrator" and confirm with OK => after that the same worked with the "Future Pinball.exe" file and the operation of the FP-Tables worked again without problems in PinupPopper.
