[VPX 10.8-beta3] OpenComposite brightness very high

Best Answer studlygoorite , 22 June 2023 - 01:56 PM

If using OpenComposite, you still need to use the dll I posted   :)

Which release version of the dll is this? I'm trying to write an installation guide for myself so if I can get exact release versions / github/gitlab links etc that would be greatly appreciated so I can learn how this works and create a consolidated and reproducible document for myself (distilling down the bazillion guides out there haha).

Not sure, both the 32 and 64bit dlls are a couple of years old. Updates to the dlls since then cause issues like the washed out colors with Virtual Pinball and speaking with the devs, they say that any compatibility issues would need to be addressed by VP Devs. I have the required 32bit saved also if needed.

Hello, everyone! I'm pretty new around here. I've been enjoying getting into the world of VR Pinball on VPX and have my Quest 1 working over Link and using SteamVR launching tables directly in VPX.

Out of curiosity (while trying to get VR-Launcher app working), I decided to try using OpenComposite instead of SteamVR and noticed the brightness is incorrectly too high.

I'm using the x64 Windows release build of 10.8-beta3 and could only get VPX to launch using the 64-bit dll of OpenComposite. I had to remove "enableAudio=false" from the opencomposite.ini because it appears to not be a setting anymore.

Anyone have ideas how I can fix the brightness issue?

Yep, you need to use this openvr_api.dll and if you are using one of the newer VR-GL builds that rename the .exe to 64 then you have to change the name of the .dll to openvr_api64.dll

Thanks, studlygoorite for pointing out about the exe being renamed with 64. That made me realize I wasn't actually on beta3 ...looks like it was released just hours after I initially started getting into VPX!! I'll try updating everything and try again.

If using OpenComposite, you still need to use the dll I posted   :)
