Notes about this table:
This is an EM table made by Sega in Japan in 1973.
It is a 1 player only and it has a few objects that are different than other tables, like the bumpers and the slingshots.
It has also a "space walk" where the ball is moved from one kicker to the other by a magnet.
And it also has a right gate to save the ball.

JP, I was thinking some shadowing effects might give the table a little more depth in cabinet mode so had a bit of a play with adding a shadow layer into the playfield.

Probably not worthy of a mod but would you mind if I add it to the site as a playfield resource so people can add it to the table if they want to?

Here's a sample image, some of the shadows may be a bit too extreme but to my eyes looks ok. I also added a blue glow under the blue plastic lane guides at the top and some slight red playfield glow around the bumpers.

Edit: playfield file now uploaded to https://www.vpforums...&showfile=17242

Greetings to Japan ... Have Fun with the Table

Crazy Clock looks cool, is there a swinging Pendulum under the Glass ?

Sapporo could be also fine, with the Mini "Skiing Field", nice.

If you have access to the Playfield Images, Backglass, or even to the real Machine, and more, let us know ...

Hey yukiko1701d!

As STAT said, what we need are some resources and info about the tables. Leonard send me pictures of Crazy Clock, Nostalgia and Mikoshi, and he said that he could redraw the graphics. So, there is hope  for more Sega tables for VPX :)

I wonder if the ball walking feature was actually smoother on the original machines when they were brand new or if the short pauses in the transport shown in the videos of the actual table are the result of deteriorating mechanics in the magnet feature?

Would not surprise me if the original is jerky too, for a couple reasons

Friction?? Do balls roll when moved by a magnet, or are they actually dragged across the playfield surface and maintain their orientation? I feel like they may be dragged.

The pendulum is inside the playfield...(Inside the plastic cover...)

I'm looking for materials from that time, but...it's a 51-year-old machine, so it's not even at Sega's headquarters...

I'll do my best to find it, but don't get your hopes up...

We'll let you know when new information comes out...

They roll
but depending on how wide the magnetic field is and how strong, it could move a bit before the ball is forced to go with it
and then the ball would kind of be drawn towards the center of the field, which could make it move kind of jerky.
Add to that, the manner in which the magnet might be moved.

It is a 50+ year old machine, so probably would be considered kind of crude in design and tech compared to what exists today.
But magnets moving balls around was not exactly common in 1973, so a jerking floating ball was probably still amazing then.

I remember a lot of mechanical coin ops, and jerky was kind of the soup of the day
but the stuff moved, when and where you told it, so no one cared a lot about jerky movement.
Were no video games to go compare them to.

Someone could probably redraw from the playfield posted at ipdb https://www.ipdb.org...no=59691&zoom=1 , it's reasonable resolution to see most details.

Did the clock pendulum have a light inside it? Does it swing freely or just move little by little?
