I run a big monitor in portait for BG, FullDMD, topper and whatever else I feel like. I create an individual screenres for most games and pretty much position and size the BG and fulldmd wherever I feel like that day.

But I do spend a lot of time holding my phone with a pic of the real cabinet next to my BG, trying to get the Y height just right, and reloading the table over and over until it looks good.

Is there consistency in certain eras of certain manufacturers' backbox dimensions? I'd like to get to the point where I have a screenres template for a late 80s Bally game with grill, for example, and just copy it when adding the game, and don't need to any editing.

I created a quick spreadsheet using the pinside data that allows you to enter Backglass X pixel width and calculates the proper Y height. I guess you're always limited by whether or not the b2s creator adhered to original aspect ratio, but it's a good start. Let me know if anyone needs me to upload it.

I just edit the b2s
if they are 4:3 -ish
then i go edit them to fix the background so 16:9 doesnt bastardize it

then 1 screenres.txt to rule them all :)

Mind you do to the media available to the author, many of them are not exactly
true to real life dimensions/aspect ratio, they do best they can with what they got

If you feel the need to empty your wallet in my direction, i don't have any way to receive it anyways

Spend it on Hookers and Blow

Better than Magic Pixel apparently; I made two posts on the Zaccaria Pinball Steam forum in january and february last year notifying them that four of the backboxes and corresponding backglass art had the wrong aspect ratio and when I last checked a few weeks ago they were still not fixed.
