Anyone know of a relatively cheap yet effective solution for altering one's voice? I know there is software out there to do it, but am cheap and don't want to pay what they want for it. Anyone know of a way to change it using something like Audacity? Trying to do some voice prompts for a pinball, but my voice just isn't cutting it.

WavePad has numerous filtering options and plugins for distorting voices. It's the only audio program I use.

For Audacity,
You can use the pitch and speed to change your voice, although if you want really good stuff like robot voices, you can check out youtube. I remember seeing once a video on how to make your voice like a robot on Audacity.
Hope this helped,

www.buzzmachines.com
1. Install it
2. load your samples (.wav) into it and play the samples with a machine (tracker)
(you can play your samples like a synthesizer-keyboard)
3. In the machines view you can ad as much as you want of the includet effects (reverb,echo,gapper,flanger,vocoder,equalizer,... you name it)
4. save the results as .wav again
