Hello all,

 

This is a bit of a strange one and I hope that you can follow my question,  I think the correct term I should use is "Some segmented scoring displays on the pre-DMD type B2S's are now missing".

 

Basically I have Freezy and Lucky1 all up and running fine for my DMD based tables with colourisation - BUT - some of my older pre-DMD type B2S's are now only showing the backglass and no score display......  Must admit with a cab full of 650+ tables I am not sure when the problem started as many of the tables don't get played much.....

 

Basically, some of my late 80's/early 90's tables like Space Station, Whirlwind, Raven, Rapid Fire etc. start the table and B2S but no scoring is  showing on the backglass.  It is not all of these era tables, just some like the ones mentioned above.  I can add coins, start and play these tables with sounds but just no scoring shows up.

 

No amount of fiddling can get the scoring to show up on these B2S's unless I start altering to using "External .DLL" in VPinMame, and even then, some of the scoring displays seem to be cut off with some of the lines not showing the whole line of scoring text.

 

Has anyone had this happen and been able to pinpoint what caused the score to no longer display?  I am in the process of checking for newer/updated B2S's, but some of these backglasses have not been touched in years.

External DLL cant display the long LED arrays, like tom and jerry or bugs bunny 
the display is too long to fit 128x32 which is the size of the DMD display in the external DLL

 

The tables you dont see the VPM display on might have 
.Hidden = 1 set in the script, or some value other than .Hidden = 0

That will turn OFF the VPM display, even you you have it defaulted to ON in vpinmame

 

I think you are confusing things though?

B2S is the backglass, and has nothing to do with the VPM display
and the B2S backglass should still be showing it's scores regardless of if you have a VPM display or not
Nothing should make the B2S's built in scores vanish at all.

EM (romless) tables wont of course have anything to display besides the backglass, unless the table was created with a DMD display

might help if you show some examples of what you mean?

i use imgur.com

VPF has an image host but i cant go back later and refind images to reuse
So i go on imgure.com, log in, go to images
and just paste or drag n drop my images there

I want to use an image i click on it, i copy the direct url

Then here, in post editor, i click the image button and paste the url from imgur in

 

Presto image
and i can find same image later if i need to repost it

I notice if I alt-tab there are 2 similar icons:

 

 

If I unhide via altering .hidden = 0 in script, this appears:

 

 

These are my settings in B2S Server for my table/s:

 

 

Taking the 'Bring BG Form to Top' tick off does nothing.  I did try one of my other non-showing score tables (Rapid Fire) and when I alt-tab to the 2nd icon called "formDMD" 

 

 

Wellah ! !  After selecting that icon, Rapid Fire shows the scoring as it used to....

 

 

Does this help explain my dilemma ?  Thank you for your advice and patience regarding "images" Wiess !!

well, you most likely DONT want the show VPM display from F1 on

not unless you have a 3rd display you want that on.

 

That is not your issue though

 

the B2S's pseudo "DMD" component is going behind the backglass

On a 3 LCD screen setup
the backglass can hide the grill, and then shift that scoreboard down onto a 3rd display

In a 2 screen setup it is supposed to land on TOP of the backglass

Which version of B2S server do you have installed on the machine?

in the downloads, get version 1.3.1.0
i think 1.3.1.1 has a minor bug presently

B2S server just gets unzipped into your tables folder (That is the default location)

 

1.3.1.0 should resolve the issue of the "DMD" component getting stuffed behind the backglass itself

If you have 1.3.1.1 already
You can uncheck bring BG form to top

Jar is working on a fix for that issue

Thanks Wiesshund - I am running 1.3.1.0. and have not attempted to install 1.3.1.1   Do you think re-installing 1.3.0.1 that has been around since 2013 would help?

After some digging, this issue may have started in Feb 2022 as I found my post from this time about version 1.3.0.6:-

Can Toxie or other members advise if 1.3.0.6  is an essential upgrade to the B2S Server?  And is there a way to check which version I am currently running?

I would not really advise rolling back to 1.3.0.x
just tell the offending backglasses not to go on top for now

I dont think i have any of mine set to be on top

I dont have my front end playing anything in the background on the backglass to interfere
so the backglass doesnt care if its on top or not, there isnt anything to compete with it, except maybe its own DMD piece

Thank you for all your feedback but I experimented with going back to 1.3.0.1 of the B2S Server and you can guess the answer.....

 

All my scoring 'reappeared' without any need for alt-tabbing.

 

Whirlwind, Raven, Rapid Fire, 250cc  All the faulty ones......
