Hi all - I have been beating my head against a wall for a week attempting to solve this issue on my own, without success.

  • I have read many threads related to Coin Door / End Button issues and tried each of the recommendations mentioned on those threads, without success.
  • I have made sure that I am using the End key that is not on the NumPad
  • I have attempted to open the Coin Door via script by setting .Switch (22) = 0 - and saving the table after the change, then launching  (pressing 8 or 9 results in the DMD indicating that I need to open the coin door)
  • My example table is Indiana Jones, using ij_l7  - the sounds for the flippers / ball rolling / etc are acceptable, but I can barely hear the voices / game audio
  • I have low rom audio on a number of tables
  • Thinking that my cabinet setup was introducing a problem, I installed Visual Pinball X on my laptop and attempted to open the Coin Door manually (using END) and via the script - both with the same result - the door does not open and pressing 8/9 results in a DMD message telling me to open the door.

Please let me know if I can answer any additional questions on setup / what I've attempted / things to try / other reading I should research

Much appreciated

M

Are you using something like Joytokey (hopefully not for this)?  Did you change the mapping of opening the coin door in the VPX settings?

Solved at this time, thank you strells for your questions - they made me re-evaluate some assumptions.

Are you using something like Joytokey (hopefully not for this)?

* On the cabinet, yes - it's just an altered 1UpArcade

* On the laptop - no

Did you change the mapping of opening the coin door in the VPX settings?

I think I was under the impression that every DMD would display a "high-voltage disabled / coin door open" message right away after pressing End - this seems to not be the case (at least for some tables) - leading me to think End was not working.

  • I mapped the Coin Door operation to Flipper 2, then started up the table(s).
  • I waited for the initialization phase to pass and the DMD to reach Attract Mode
  • I pressed Flipper 2 - and saw no DMD feedback
  • I proceeded to press 8/9 - and the DMD display changed to ROM volume control
  • I then set Coin Door back to Empty, to prevent it interfering with regular play
  • I have not tested simply pressing End plus 8 or 9 yet but will do so later.

Thanks again for these simple questions, it helped to have an outside voice ask a question and allowed me to get resolution!

Some roms (IE Stern) wont actually make you open the coin door

WIlliams/Bally based ones will

If you feel the need to empty your wallet in my direction, i don't have any way to receive it anyways

Spend it on Hookers and Blow

hello

Does anyone have any idea how to connect the buttons on a Pinscape R4 mod?
With a cable from GND to the button and then with the other cables to the pinscape?
I am a bit confused

Thanks

Thank you for this! I was at my wit's end trying to get Indiana Jones to turn up the volume, but holding [End] while pressing the volume buttons worked as intended!

I suppose a good example of ... there's a lot of good tips in this forum if you just search for them. Luckily Google has indexed the site over the years as well.

The only thing I've noticed regarding this is that on these tables (that use END, 8,9, END) to adjust the Table's (ROM) volume ... sometimes after I press END, I have to press the 8 key first, then I can use 9 to raise it ... it's a little janky but it works.

Additionally, after I finish and press END (to close it) I always press 8 once more and make sure it says the Coin-Door is now closed.
