File Name: MAME for DOFLinx - old version

File Submitter: DDH69

File Submitted: 05 Feb 2022

File Category: Frontends and Addons

This version of MAME has been modified for communication with DOFLinx to enable the use of cabinet toys via DOF.

When setup with DOFLinx this version of MAME will support use of the standard output messages for things like player 1 and player 2 buttons and knockers.  The special part that makes the magic happen are the modifications to get real time messaging happen between MAME and DOFLinx.

The DOFLinx specific stuff is:

  • Messaging of pause to drive button illumination and other actions
  • Messaging of cheat on / off to drive button illumination and other actions
  • Real-time communication of game scores so that toys (flashers, solenoids, knocker, shaker, etc) along with addressable (MX) LEDs.  This brings games to life with arcade cabinet activity when both individual and milestone scores are reached.
  • So far a few hundred games (MAME and NES) have been setup to work via DOFLinx MAME configuration files.
  • Now I'm starting on some shooters since I have a Sinden light gun

Read the stickies and guides on how to set all of this up.  If you get stuck post in the forum.

Note, I will not be producing a DOFLinx MAME version for every MAME version released.  I will do it periodically or if major changes occur.  Also, this will only be done for the 64bit version.

Nice.
I'm still not getting my arcade cabinet up an running, After I added a new mainboard in it ( almost 2 years ago ...)
Do you have some video's how the MX LED's / Matrix will show .
Are the Mame (and NES) games also added via the DOF config tool, or is this added via DOFLInX files ?
Good work, and maybe (When I don't have time for the pinball), I will extend my arcade cabinet with this (and buy some buttons lights as well)

Sure, have a look here https://www.youtube....5taWBrGtKA&t=4s

Its all controlled via *.MAME file in DOFLinx with the MX effects using a single DOFLinx ROM  (you could use specific ROMs if you wanted but that wold add complexity unnecessarily)

MAME with DOF based toys is just the next step, it just adds a bit more flash and some fun.

Do i need dof?? Doflinx? Is this the latest version of mame  with dof capabilities?

Can I use mame with doflinx with a  Cleveland 5 relay board? How does dof tie in with this?
