I only recently added this FS conversion to my pinball pc because my girlfriend enjoyed playing it so much this weekend just past at the Church of the Silverball. I always overlooked the table because the movie was so crappy. Thankfully, the movie didn't negatively impact the pinball machine.

The Shadow is fun to play, has some great "thunk" sounds and the audio bits captured from the movie really enhance the mood.

The Khan battle field (upper left playfield) will take some practice to master, both the real machine and the VP version. I feel GRONI has accurately recreated this machine and Iceman5000 did a superb job converting it. Thank you very much guys!

The only things I'd like to see fixed are replacement images for the diverters and replacement images for the rings. Perhaps we could use some of Noah's resources available here - Noah's The Shadow resources

This is a very fun table to play. I had a chance to play the real pin about 15 years ago and it plays very close to the real thing. Very awesome table and much fun playing smile.gif

For the life of me I can't get the blue buttons to work on the FS version..

UPDATE:

OK, I did sort it out, I just opened a regular table and compared the script. I had to change lines 62 and 63 to this
Const keyLeftPhurbaButton = 30
Const keyRightPhurbaButton = 40

That set it to A and ' The default keys are 208 and 200 which appear to be Down and Up keys.. Hope this helps others.

For the life of me I can't get the blue buttons to work.. I've tried left ctrl and right ctrl like some forums say.. No go.. I've tried A and ' like some other said and nothing.. f2 doesn't tell me squat. it tells me what the magna saves are which are supposed to be the same but nope.. nothing works.. anyone else having this issue?

yeah i remember dealing with that on my cab - the magnasave buttons didn't work. As I recall, the keys were hard-coded into the script, so i had to change them there - and i had to look up the right keycodes in the back of the VP manual (or the hyperpin docs?). All worked fine after that.

I'll check when i'm on my cabinet, and report back

yeah you need to change the keys in the script. If you look up the keycodes in the appendix of the VP documentation - for me I needed keys J and K, which are keycodes 36 and 37.

then change the numbers in the script to the keys you want:

CODE
'KEY DEFINITIONS ********************************************************************************
**********************************************************

Const keyBuyInButton = 3
Const keyLeftPhurbaButton = 36   'J
Const keyRightPhurbaButton = 37  'K

it looks like they were originally set for UpArrow / DownArrow

For Pinball Wizard or Nanotech DIY plunger kit, this is what I have scripted in my FS version of The Shadow:

CODE
'KEY DEFINITIONS ********************************************************************************
**********************************************************

Const keyBuyInButton = 3
Const keyLeftPhurbaButton = 29
Const keyRightPhurbaButton = 157

Thanks for the tip and the super quick response Kruge99 dblthumb.gif

It works better but still has an issue with my left 2 button.

Slightly off topic in this thread but not sure where else to put it.

Left 1 & 2 acts the exact same way so both flip and switch the lane with the dagger. Jumped out in windows and accordingly to my calibration (windows) 1 is mapped to 10 and 2 is mapped to 11. For testing I did fire up the fantastic table MB table from unclewilly and guess what same thing both 1 & 2 flips the left flip. Perhaps this is by designe and as good as it gets. TS is the first one I try to used all 4 buttons with my pbw so not sure what to expect.

Thanks for giving us this fantastic table: MEGAPIN (Groni). FS MOD by Iceman5000

Yes, It has happened to me with both ramps. I agree this is a fun table, I was able to spend some time playing this on vacation at the hotel I stayed at. I am hoping maybe someday to see a new take on this table from another creator. I never did like the angle that older tables tend to have on flippers but I do not know enough about editing in Visual Pinball to mess with it.

OMG, that is hilarious. Because on the real machine, balls get stuck there all the time. Happens because the switch is a leaf switch bent like a wedge. Causes to much drag on the ball too soon before it builds up momentum. Way i've always fixed this on shadows i've owned, is use a long straight wire switch. So it triggers in the middle of the ramp. Works every time. On this table, I have no clue on how to fix it. smile.gif

Btw, shadow is highly underrated machine, and The movie wasn't that bad. I'd watch the shadow 100x's over having to watch, Any of the Twilight movies, or EP1, 2 or 3 even once.

The machine is definitely a players machine. One of the harder ones, that normally the better players appreciate. Especially the mode start hole. That shot is very hard to hit on the real machine.

Oh man I know that thing is a nightmare, 9 times out of 10 I cant get to final battle because I can't hit that shot. I find on this virtual table thought shooting in to the shadow loop and performing a loop scoop on the lower right flipper tends to send the ball right in the hole even so I find this difficult to do constantly. The shadow is definitely a underrated players table. Once I am through college and in to a career I would like to get my hands on this pinball machine for real as my first table. I think the difficulty will keep me playing it for a long time so buying it as a first pin didn't seem like a bad idea to me.

8 months ago, you could have found one fairly easy for $1200-1400. Prices have been climbing on this game dramatically. Good luck finding one for under 2k now. The collectors are figuring out how awesome this game really is. Main reason the price has stayed down there so long is the backglass. Lot of collectors can't stand the backglass. Personally, I don't mind it and doesn't bother me.

Was playing my real machine last night. Was 2 modes away from final battle again. Damn you, mode start hole. Damn you!

For anyone else that may have the same issue, I suggested changing the physical wall height of the ramp, from 162, to 172. ICPjuggla seems to think that solved the problem. Hope it may help someone else.
