I can't launch the ball... please advise on what I might be missing.

I'm able on all my other tables.

No music/sound (only fx)  VPX 10.8 latest beta (VPinballX-10.8.0-1836-43556db-Release-win-x64).

I have tried to download ROM file from several places, nothing changed. Game is working but no music and sound. Other machines work but not this one.

ROM name: "eatpm_l4.zip" -- when starting the pinball game it does not display an error when loading the rom.

When I press button "8" show text : "MUSIC TEST" shortly after "MUSIC OFF".

UPDATE!!!

In another .vpx I can found "sound" propetrty (value), that set with 1 then sound started working :)

(vpx name: "Elvira and the Party Monsters Pup.vpx")

line 359 and 360:

' Rom sound OFF wwhen open table Music on table file disabled
        .Games("eatpm_l4").Settings.Value("sound") = 1

For the people that are getting no music on this table.  ITS NOT THE ROM..  I struggled with this for HOURS and i know that this rom is used for another table, and it had sound so i knew the rom was good.

Here is the fix...

Once in game, hit F1 to bring up the pinmame window.

Near the top is a checkbox that says USE SOUND... check it.

Job done... restart table and enjoy sound !!

Hey all...

Okay, so I am running this table and for some reason it opens 2 Virtual DMD's... One of them is just black and the other has stuff in it. I have no idea why it opens 2. When I close the table, the black Virtual DMD is still there. Only when I completely close VPX does it go away. Perhaps this is why people are saying they don't see the DMD? The black Virtual DMD appears above the other one. Only if I alt+tab I'll see it...

Edit: One thing I also notice with most tables is that if I alt+tab at anytime, and go back to the play field, I cannot start the table at all. Hit 1, doesn't start. I can still insert coins, but it just won't start. If I hit Escape, I can get the menu to show, but just cannot start the table for some reason. I can start if I don't hit alt+tab at all. Unfortunately, I have to do that if I want the right DMD to show for this table... Now, if I start the table, and then alt+tab I can still play. Just cannot start another game after that.

Edit 2: Okay, so I was playing around with stuff after alt+tabbing... If I hit alt again it will work.. starting the game...

@gnubblez

Elvira and party of monsters works with a Backglass Score.

So you don´t need a ROM or DMDextensions score on screen.

To deactive see the the pictures below:

elvira1_t.png

elvira2_t.png

Press F1 to open the ROM menu. Press ALT/TAB to acess

If you can´t, maybe you are in "Exclusive fullscreen" in video settings

Change to "Window".

Hi, not sure what's changed in VPX/Vpinmame/DMDdevice but i was able to reproduce the issue with the FlexDMD enabled.

Please try this, in the table script find Sub Table1_Init and locate these two lines;

		If UseFlexDMD Then ExternalEnabled = Controller.Games(cGameName).Settings.Value("showpindmd")
		If UseFlexDMD Then Controller.Games(cGameName).Settings.Value("showpindmd") = 0

And move them to the above the vpmInit Me line

So this block of code;

Sub Table1_Init

	FlexDMD_Init

	vpmInit Me

	On Error Resume Next
		With Controller
		.GameName = cGameName
		If Err Then MsgBox "Can't start Game" & cGameName & vbNewLine & Err.Description : Exit Sub
		.SplashInfoLine = "Elvira and the Party Monsters"&chr(13)&"You Suck"
	         .HandleKeyboard = 0
         .ShowTitle = 0
         .ShowDMDOnly = 1
         .ShowFrame = 0
         .HandleMechanics = 0
         .Hidden = 1
         On Error Resume Next
         .Run GetPlayerHWnd
         If Err Then MsgBox Err.Description
		If UseFlexDMD Then ExternalEnabled = Controller.Games(cGameName).Settings.Value("showpindmd")
		If UseFlexDMD Then Controller.Games(cGameName).Settings.Value("showpindmd") = 0
         On Error Goto 0
     End With

Becomes;

Sub Table1_Init

	FlexDMD_Init
	If UseFlexDMD Then ExternalEnabled = Controller.Games(cGameName).Settings.Value("showpindmd")
	If UseFlexDMD Then Controller.Games(cGameName).Settings.Value("showpindmd") = 0

	vpmInit Me

	On Error Resume Next
		With Controller
		.GameName = cGameName
		If Err Then MsgBox "Can't start Game" & cGameName & vbNewLine & Err.Description : Exit Sub
		.SplashInfoLine = "Elvira and the Party Monsters"&chr(13)&"You Suck"
	         .HandleKeyboard = 0
         .ShowTitle = 0
         .ShowDMDOnly = 1
         .ShowFrame = 0
         .HandleMechanics = 0
         .Hidden = 1
         On Error Resume Next
         .Run GetPlayerHWnd
         If Err Then MsgBox Err.Description
         On Error Goto 0
     End With

Let us know if that works for you. If not you may just have to disable the FlexDMD in the table code (change line 12 to Dim UseFlexDMD:UseFlexDMD = 0)

@scutters
