Hi everyone.  My name is Allan.  I am new to this forum.  I have a question about the Dr. Who VPX table.  When loading the table, the preview has sounds and voice effects.  When the table is loaded, and I begin to play, I noticed there is no more music, or voice.  I hear only the ball, hitting the bumpers.  I have the proper roms, that are required, but I have a feeling, something else is missing, I just don't know what.  I have the original VPX version, and also the Version 4.0 table.  Both use the new colorized DMD.  The tables were working at first, and now they both stopped playing the music and voice.  Can anyone please send me the link, to the file that is required.  Any help, will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you, for your time, and help.  I hope everyone has a great day!

I actually think i had the same problem for a LOOONG time, and if i remember correctly it turned out to be the rom even though i was 100% sure that i had the right one.

I dont have any links to the correct ROM as i can not remember where i found it - but i am pretty sure that you just need the right one.

and just because it had the right name doesn't mean that it is working, so try to find it from different sources and see is that will solve the problem.

Is there any way you can check your ROM folder, and let me know which ROM you are using?  Thanks.

Allan

I have the following Doctor Who roms:

dw_l1.zip

dw_l2.zip

dw_p5.zip

Are any of these in conflict, or is there another rom I should have?

Did you turn ROM volume up? Try 9,8 or even 7 to adjust volume.

i wont be able to check until this weekend, but the names are the same regardless :) thats the weird part, but i am pretty sure i kept trying different roms (with the same names) from different parts of the internet until i finally got one that worked - no idea why that specific rom was so problematic.

and turning up/down the sound levels in the rom didn't help.

btw, are you using the newest SAMbuild ? I think there was an update at some point that fixed sound problems in some roms.

i had the same problem and fixed it by using the dw_l1.zip rom.  Just changed the rom's name in the script.

I had dw_l2.zip at 2.4M with no sound. Found one at 1.3M and the sound is now working.

my dw_l2 is 1.3mb

and dw_p5 is 2.0mb because it is a merged ROM and does not require a parent ROM

Not sure why dw_l2 would weigh in at 2.4mb

sounds like it is packing extra baggage in the trunk

If you feel the need to empty your wallet in my direction, i don't have any way to receive it anyways

Spend it on Hookers and Blow

I have just used the latest pinball installer and was trying to get doctor who running.  I have table sounds and music but no voice.  hitting end to open door does not work after a short window of time when clean installing without nvram or cfg file.  have downloaded l2 version rom from vpuniverse.  am I missing something on how to raise the voice sounds?

hitting 9 8 7 says to open coin door but it will not open coin door when I hit it.

noticed something weird.  think vpinmame might be some of the problem.  when I left the game and tried to play an em game the real I run on my setup was still trying to run doctor who and it would only clear after running another table that used the dmd

i had the same problem. but in my case this was after an update of that table. So i first thought that the rom that the table used had changed. This turned out not to be the case because i only had that rom in my folder. The table worked as it should before. So i think the problem must be somewhere in pinmame but i could be wrong.
