To answer your question, technically yes, there's a program called Driver4VR which is mainly used for body tracking, but is supposed to provide a feature called "tVR" which is basically just a virtual headset passthrough to your monitor. Not sure if released or not, I think it's in alpha?

 

The real question though is why?

It won't be remotely the same experience, and you will need to set up tracking with a Kinect or the like to enable you to "look" around and move arms, etc.

I tried Driver4VR a while ago with a Kinect V2 when I was using a PSVR headset to try to get 6DOF tracking, and it was just an absolutely awful/buggy/laggy experience. It was probably the single reason I went looking for a Rift.

Because I don't have the money for a couple hundred dollar headset, I'm only 11, but I want to see what VP VR looks like.

You cant see/feel VR on a a screen, sorry. Maybe you can get an older Oculus headset for cheap.

It would not be very possible

 

You would kind of need a TV that supports 3D

(youd have to run it in desktop mode due to the what the screen and 3D glasses work, they wont work sideways)

 

It would not exactly be VR 3D but you would get a general idea i guess.

 

And the only 2 head sets i would buy, if i was buying one, are both $600+ dollars

If you just want to see it being played, you can watch YT gameplay of people playing VPX in VR, although like recordings of other VR games, you won't really be experiencing it.

 

For an absolute budget way into VR - depending on the phone you have - you may be able to use iVRy. It's basically a plugin for SteamVR that lets you use a few alternative headsets for SteamVR games. I used it for my PSVR and it worked just fine for basic VR.

You will need to buy one of those cheap "Cardboard VR" headsets or something similar to actually wear the phone as a display, and assuming it works for you, you'll need to buy the iVRy Mobile Device plugin to use it past the trial (only $8).

I would test that it works at all before actually buying anything, you don't have to actually wear the phone in a headset just to see that it connects and is showing VR output.

 

I understand a real headset is a pretty big buy, but used older Oculus headsets sell for quite cheap compared to other VR sets, especially now since Facebook pretty much dumped the Rift line.

Don't know much about them, but I've also seen the Samsung headsets for cheap on eBay. Both ~$150-300 w/ controllers + cable, which is a lot easier swallow than a Vive or Index (as much as I'd love one, lol)

I dont think i could deal with the resolutions i have seen on some

would drive my eyes to migraine territory.

The fact that you can not focus consumer grade VR equipment though is also kind of a downer, not even the expensive ones

The commercial VR helmets, i can adjust the focus on each eye independently, enough so that i dont need glasses on

I think there are ways to "fool" your PC into thinking its running a VR headset but it would only be for maybe basic testing or something.

 

If you want to kind of see what its like you could try something like google cardbord or whatever and watch 3D VR videos with that.. that would maybe be the easiest way if your just curious.

 

Also the performance is generally horrible but you may be able to stream VR to your phone and use something like track IR but it never works good lol

You dont need that for a paper route.. I had one from about 8-11ish.. one of the hardest jobs Ive ever had to be honest(and Ive had a few) but Star Wars action figures weren't gunna buy themselves lol

That age has since passed into shadow.

 

If you look at that job list, there is a repeating chorus of

must be 18

must have a license

must have a dependable car

must have a backup car

etc etc

 

None of which will get your foot in the door at 11

 

I think the local neighborhood routes of yesteryear are a gone thing
now it's just big consolidated routes

 

You would probably have to find a route owner who wants to sub a neighborhood off to some kid, if they are even allowed to.

 

You used to be able to deliver fliers as a kid too, now they only want adults with cars and licenses too.

Yep, I had one too about that age. Didn't need a work permit or a drivers license. Guess things have changed.

Same here. I would plop that giant bag of heavy as F**K papers on the handle bars of my 80's BMX bike and tear off at 6 am each week day.

At 11 I played Indians against cowboys with stones and sticks, thank God I keep both eyes

And my experience with virtual reality was the sinclair 1000 with the flight simulator. that vertigo give me those 3 little squares to keep them stable
