File Name: Robocop Marcade Mod (Data East 1989)

File Submitter: wpilot

File Submitted: 09 Apr 2021

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME - MOD Tables

Author(s): Wpilot ICPjuggla Talantyyr Dozer316 Dark
Manufacturer: Data East
Year: 1989
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, with approval

This is the original 1989 Data East Robocop table modified with all new artwork and 3d models. All art and design was produced by me. Some light and sound improvements/adjustments. All gameplay should be identical to the original source file produced by ICPjuggla, Talantyyr, Dozer316 and Dark. Many thanks to them for permission to produce this MOD.

As per my usual design process - I've created an alternate setup for the DMD to display in the apron. You will need to select the Apron Wall primitive in VPX and swap the Image to "plastics_DMD.png" and the section normally reserved for table instructions becomes the score display area. Then the DMD can be moved appropriately.

The Instruction card version of the apron is displayed by default.

All music and sound are sourced by the original ROM.
No additional music is installed.

All art and design is provided as "Fan art" and shouldn't be used for sale or promotional material.

Table looks great! Was just wondering where the plastics_DMD image is?  Can't seem to find it anywhere.

Ahh, got it - thank you!  Don't know how I missed it.  For an even dumber question, how do you move this type of DMD?  On those displays I've moved in the past I would just click on it and drag it wherever, on this one I seem to only be able to move it one segment at a time.  Tried searching for help to no avail, I'm sure it's something simple!

Wow, love your art! I'll definitely be checking out your tables this weekend :D

Got a chance to check it out - art is as good in-game as in pictures! Plus your lighting settings are on point. Low environment, table nicely illuminated, no overwhelming bloom...love it.

If you go into the Backglass/POV mode you can click and drag a bounding box around the full set of digits (selecting all of them)
and then use shift+arrow keys to nudge them where you want. Note: this will take a bit of time before VP responds (at least it's slow on my machine maybe on a more powerful setup it's instantaneous?) So it will take a few attempts to move it into proper place and you can check it by Playing or using the F6 lighting setup.

Alternately, you could also use this method:

"- For JPSalas’ versions of these tables, the PinMAME window is hidden. To make the volume adjustments as described above, you have to go into the script and find the following line:

.Hidden = 1

Change that line to read as follows:

.Hidden = 0

Then exit the script and press play. Make your adjustments as described above. When you exit the table and close it in VP, you do not have to resave the table if you do not want to keep the PinMAME window unhidden."

But my little Apron "Score" window is too small for the PinMame setup. People may like that DMD better.
:)
