Hello Everyone.
In 2009, I have started to "collect permission" about specific FP table so I could offer them a new life, while giving back the credits to the original author.

The game is simple:

1. I ask an author to give me approval to mod one of his FPtable without knowing what it is going to look like in the end.
2. Matching the name of the table, I offer to the Original conceptor a brand new look, concept and ambience.

As for example here are the 3, I did in 2009 :

Classic Panic SE
Speed Devil SE
SteelWheel SE

Now, Allow me to reprise my entertainment act, as the "Ethical Toyman" were recycling is always good, approved and enjoyed.

First table announcement for 2010 : FLAME REAPER - ANTHIAS (the bowling man from down under biggrin.gif )

Hey Steve, see if you can get in touch with Margoni for permission to re-do his FP versions of King Rex and King Tut. They could use a lavish "shopping" and even though they are EM tables, they are great tables to play. Plus they could use some tweaking to make the gameplay a little more challenging as it really is too easy to get on a roll and score +20k sometimes.

Best Regards,
Todd.

Thanks Steve (and table authors who gave permission to mod). I've played all three tables and the added/updated graphic elements add a nice touch to the pinball experience.

Thanks steve for all you do - and I eagerly await your efforts in 2010 - I feel honored that you have chosen this table - My first fp (and the second community release ever by a scant few hours) - this table will surely benefit from your touch in ways I wouldn't have dreamed possible back in 2005 when it was first made.

Now fp fans - isn't that scary? this will be a fifth year for us all!

Nice one Steve, and thanks anthias for the original table - can`t believe its all of 5 years ago !!
Got to agree with Todd - if someone could get hold of Margoni, and get permission for Steve to work his magic on his em`s that would be fantastic biggrin.gif

As A side note Todd - hows the Stern tables going, and say hello to Martin B for me - time he got his ass over here !!

I have not much time to seek for approval...it is time consuming, trying to catch certain user..wink.gif

That is why I setup this "voluntary thread" so anyone can participate in either modding or looking
for the author to get approval.

Sorry for the hijack/sidetrack. I planned on using Martin B's playfield to build a brand new Meteor but last time we chatted before FP forums shut down he was teeter-tottering and not really willing to give me permission to use the playfield from his FP version of Meteor. Martin B obviously worked really hard on it and I respect his hard work he put into his FP Meteor.

That being said, I'm going to attempt a quality re-draw of Meteor. I'm about 50% started on it, the only hurdle I am forseeing is the burning meteor and the flame trail. To put it simply, I'm not experienced with drawing fire or flaming objects so I might seek outside help for that part. (Would a drawing tablet help to draw the fire? and should I switch to Illustrator/Photoshop???) these are all questions I have to check with my wallet wink.gif

Todd.

Just to prove everyone that the FPDEV expiration is not the end of everything
here is a model I did, with component ALREADY existing in FP and those from my TOYFACTORY library.

It is a highly detailed multiball distributor Firetruck for the theme FLAME REAPER

NO EXTRA 3D MODEL WERE MADE. you are in need for such model? I'm willing to help and orient you on the right path.

Cool....

The "TOYFACTORY" is very nice (thank you) but did you ever create your collection of primitives? (pyramids, cones wedges etc?)

Took a while to see this thread. That truck looks tres chic. I know you'll showcase it well in the mod. I have also enjoyed the tables you've mentioned....that water effect is too cool. Look forward to seeing the paint flickering red in the fire you light to this table.
