Howdy-Ho! I am sure this has been covered before....Can the sound be adjusted higher so like you don't hear the flippers over the music? Case in point the new version of POTO 2.0. Thanks! smile.gif

While I don't have an answer for you, I would like to know myself. This is the only table I ever had a problem with the sound that I could not figure out how to fix.
The speech on this table is fine but the other sounds are really low. (the flipper sounds are good)

Hi KEG and marv75,

for Data East machines (like POTO2.0), try this (it's an excerpt from an old topic on the previous vpforums.com):

In Data East tables you can adjust the volume of the table via the ROM. You need to go to adjustment 40 in the ROM to change the volume. You can change it to 0 percent, 25 percent, 50 percent, 75 percent or 100 percent by doing the following:
1.. Press 7 to enter diagnostic mode
2. Continue to press 7 to go through the diagnostics, which will take you to audits and adjustments
3. Continue to press 7 to go through the audits to get to adjustments.
4. Continue to press 7 until you get to Expand Adjustments 12
(If you pass this menu item, press 8 then press 7 to go back)
5. Press 1 to change to YES, then press 7 (Press 8 first if you've pressed 8 before, which meant you've passed this menu item beforehand)
6. Continue to press 7 until you get to adjustment 40
7. Press 1 key to change the volume percentage
8. Press 7 to store that change into the nvram
9. Either continue to press 7 to go through the rest of the adjustments until the DMD goes blank or press F3 to exit the menu

The "8" key toggles the direction that you browse thru the menus with the "7" key

Edit: I tried to do the change on POTO 2.0 now myself, the "7" and "8" keys take you through the menus, but these don't show up as described above angry.gif sorry ! I'll try to find it, then post again. Stay tuned.

On Williams/Bally tables, press the "end" key to open the coin door and use the 8 and 9 keys (on the main keyboard) to adjust the volume.

Generally you can try the "Preferences/Audio Options" in the VP editor as well.

The procedure that hgpinball described only works for DE/Sega DMD tables.

Pinball machines from DE earlier than those did not have their volume adjusted through the ROM, rather there were analog controls inside the machine (either inside the backbox or in the lower cabinet) that adjusted the volume.

What you might do but it will take some work is to use the free program Audacity to lower the volume of the flipper and other sounds from the table. You'd have to export all the sounds, load them into Audacity, lower their volume (reduce the gain), re-save them (export as .wav), then re-import them back into the table.

For clarification purposes, these are the only DE tables (before DE was sold to Sega) which had their volume adjusted through the ROM:

Lethal Weapon 3, Star Wars, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Jurassic Park, Last Action Hero, Tales From the Crypt, Tommy – Pinball Wizard, WWF Royal Rumble, Guns ‘N Roses, Maverick

Checkpoint, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Batman, Star Trek 25th Anniversary and Hook were DMD tables by DE that did not have the volume adjusted through the ROM, rather they had analog controls which adjusted the volume.
