File Name: Bad Cats Williams 1989 vpx Graphics Remaster

File Submitter: brad1x

File Submitted: 19 Jun 2020

File Category: VPX Recreations

Author(s): Unclewilly
Brad1X
Manufacturer: Williams
Year: 1989
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

Added 1.2.1b versions of low and hi res, some people are having issues with the backboard image rendering upside down (TOY Image) I rotated the PNG files, hopefully this version will fix this for those who have had the problem. Let me know in comments if the problem persists. If the image is loading correctly for you there no need to update.

I have updated to version 1.2.1 of Unclewilly's Bad Cats Table - did not realize there was a newer version when I set this up originally.
I have removed the previous 1.0 version.

And uploaded a HR hi res and a LR lo res version - use the low res version if you have memory issues.

This is Unclewilly's awesome Bad Cats table - with a new graphics overhaul.

I have completely redrawn every graphic element as vector art and used that to create new high resolution PNG files for all of the table art (playfield, plastics etc.)

I also adjusted some of the lighting.

I don't think there are any other Bad Cats tables out there but this one from Unclewilly, but please feel free to use the PNG files embedded or contact me if you want some PNGs set up to match what you are working on. All I ask is if you use my graphics you give me credit.

Lastly I hope I am not stepping on anyones toes by releasing this mod, I have learned and gotten a lot from this community and am happy to finally have something to contribute.

Ok one more note, my wife and I love this machine and Unclewilly definitely did it justice.

Thats pixel perfect from my eye and Attack From mars too. I don't know how much time you put in this 2 table completely redraws but that must be HELL of a lot work.

Thank you so much!

I don't know if I'm seeing it wrong but part of the playfield is upside down. I compare it to UncleWilly’s version it’s normal.

brad1x,

I made a pdf file with the two images. An image of the first review and another of your review.

Halen, Hmm not sure why it’s rotating that image. I did not really mess with anything in the VPX file just replaced the images, but I used the original image files to trace over so nothing got rotated. I can rotate the image and replace it in the vpx file and send you a new copy to see if that works for you, but I don’t know much else about setting up the tables other than replacing the graphics and adjusting light intensities.

brad,

I tried with the file rotated but it didn't work either. I'm using Beta 10.7 and changed it to 10.6 and bingo worked. I think there is a bug in 10.7.

Cool - glad it’s working for you - I have not updated to 10.7 yet so never had any issues.

Hey Stat, yeah there are some pretty hefty image files (especially the playfields) I’m a graphic designer and when it comes to image files if I can leave them as large as possible I do. I figured with these remasters I would drop the graphics in these tables and other creators could pick them up to use them in their tables - so I figured the bigger the master file the better.  The only thing I know how to do is update the graphics, and there are already people out there creating great playing tables, figured I would contribute where I could.

The reason I chose these specific versions of the tables is that these are the ones that my Wife and I like the best, but I am hoping that people use these graphics in other versions as well.

I wish devs would save the highest res/dpi possible in table, but use whatever would be appropriate in todays market.  Table would save non compressed etc version but use whatever should be used in that time period.  I know in the future we could use more dpi/etc.  Makes sense right.

Don't know if you read the review section on the downloads so I thought I would post here instead.

I am now getting an out of memory error...I am using a 6GB card. Do these graphics exceed 6gb?? That seems ridiculous. I have tried turning down the texture size in settings and that doesn't change anything. Any suggestions?

This doesn't happen on your Attack from Mars remaster, by the way.

NEVERMIND! It was because I had too many tabs open and a bunch of other stuff. Ha, sorry about that!

There are 2 images in the table called backwall. One of them can be deleted. Its the one causing the upsidedown image on the back wall. One is correct the other is upsidedown you will see them in image manager. Just delete the upsidedown one or rename it to something different

"it will all be ok in the end, if it's not ok, it's not the end"
