File Name: Ghostbusters (Art MOD of JPs SLIMER)

File Submitter: wpilot

File Submitted: 15 Apr 2020

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME - MOD Tables

Author(s): JPSalas (Grand Schtroumpf)
Mark Paulik (Marcade MOD)
Manufacturer: Original
Year: 2020
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

This is an art MOD of JPSalas' "SLIMER" table to make it resemble the Stern Ghostbusters Table. All gameplay and Audio are unchanged from the "SLIMER" table. I wanted to have a version of the Stern table (since that table seems a bit difficult to find and get working) so I just made an Art MOD of all the assets using the art from Stern's table. There is no software change.

I had to take some liberties with some of the art to make it fit and tried my best to have it reflect items on the Stern table. JP had some nice gameplay elements that are left in (a 3D Ghost Slimer still pops up periodically - I just made hime a tad more fierce looking)

Sorry once again for those needing Backglass and alternate DMD setups. My personal table is a one screen setup so I have no need of such things, but there are some great contributors in this forum that will probably make something if you're patient. :)

Hope people have fun with it!

Thanks, it looks really nice

I did a backdrop for desktop users (you'll have to re-locate the DMD and change RotX value from -90 to -45)

How do I get the silver ball back instead of the green ball? Great table by the way.

Thanks wpilot for the mod, really nice. When I made the table it was a little "risky" to use the same images as the Stern table, that's why "Ghostbusters" became "Slimer" :) The rules are similar to Stern's table, but not the same, and the Stern table has a lot of more sounds and music.

And thanks batch for the backdrop. I did change the pov settings. I don't think it is a good idea to use Layback on a desktop view.

I changed the desktop pov view to; 50, 50, 0, 0, 1, 1, 1, 150, -450, I also reduce a little the Lightness of the backdrop and it looks like this:

Perfect for my monitor and my eyes :)

You have to open the table in Visual Pinball and change the ball material parameters.
JP - I'm curious about the vocal feedback. Is that you talking? Or did you hire someone to do the V.O.?

Thanks, JP, but I don't use any Layback ! :)

My settings are Inclination = 48, Field of view = 35, Layback = 0, XScale = YScale, and then I adjust  YOffset and ZOffset to have a full view of the table

And of the backdrop too ! :)

Thanks for this great mod!

The ball doesn't spin. Only with me it does? What could be wrong? I know that on other tables (where in my case is fine) people also report that the ball is not spinning. What it depends on?

same for me, ball is not spinning (and it's really annoying). And  i found another bug, when you get a high score and you try to put your name, if you change letter in reverse (from 'A' and go to the left ) you get an error/crash with an 'out of array' when you pass the numbers and signs and just before you get the 'Z'  letter

Thanks for this great mod!

The ball doesn't spin. Only with me it does? What could be wrong? I know that on other tables (where in my case is fine) people also report that the ball is not spinning. What it depends on?

The ball doesn't spin. The ball in VPX uses two images, one that is static (called Ball Image in the editor), and another one that is the one that moves (Called Decal in the editor)

Usually this Decal are the scratches, but you can use any image and it will warp around the ball. Best is you use a 2x1 size (2 wide x 1 high), like 256x128.

There is a Logo check box, this just changes the way both images interact. Just try how best works for you.

And here it is an example if any of you want to try this:

Unzip this demo.zip and you will find 4 images: Ball_Decal_Green.png, Ball_Decal.png, Ball_Image.png and Ball_Black.png. And load them into the table. Now these images will be available in the Options window.

Ball_Image.png and Ball_Decal.png goes together. Select the Ball_image in the image, and the Ball_decal in the decal property. Do not check the Logo mode.

You will see that this works, but as it is intended as a scratches funtion, so the pink lines do not look so good. And if you check the Logo mode then the decal gets the most attention, but since the image is almost empty it will not look good.

Now if you really want a rotating ball then the best is this:

Select Ball_Back as the image

Select Ball_Decal_Green as the decal

And check the logo mode.

Play and see the results :)

Sorry you're having to moderate issues now on 2 tables JP...
:P

And yes I agree it is high praise to have JP say thanks for the MOD. It warms the heart.
In terms of collaboration: I work full-time for a game company already so my time to work on these types of things is very short.
That said - if a project intrigues me in some fashion I'd be down with collaboration :)

So say someone were to start on aaaaa.....oh lets saaaaay... recreation of the Rick and Morty table in VPX.....my ears might perk up at that.
:)

I guess I hired the brother of the person Stern used :) Doesn't it sound similar?

:D
If it was you - I was gonna say your voice sounds a lot like Ernie Hudson.
