I am having problems with a shaker motor from PBL

PBL-100-0023-00

https://www.pinballl...os-jetsons.html

It starts initially (by giving it ~6.6V), yet when I stop it and start it again, it won't do anything.

I have am not using the extra circuit which came with the unit.

Instead, hooking +6.6V and GND directly to the unit, with a diode in the mix.

If I wait for like 5min, it starts again, but only once.

I have tried adjusting the voltage higher, but when it reaches closer to 9V the crazy thing shakes itself apart (way too fast).

This thing is driving me crazy!

Is it a 12vDC motor?  If so I'm not surprised that you struggle with anything much else than the rated voltage.  The proper way to speed control a motor is with pulse width modulation (PWM).  You can do this by boosting a signal from a LEDwiz, Pinscape, PacLED, etc, or by buying a little motor speed controller board.

Correct, a 12V motor.

I have a Zeb control board which has a dial to adjust the speed. When I bring it up close to 10V the crazy thing shakes until it almost rips everything apart.

I just tried dialing down to 8.5V and it works (consistently ON and OFF) so I must have had too low of a voltage.

Now I need to adjust the weight a bit.

Thanks for the help...amazing how strong these motors are!
