PinMAME development: How do sound commands work?

Hi,

 

as you might know there're ongoing projects to build Open Source replacement boards for broken MPUs in real pinball machines, mostly EE by Gottlieb, Williams and Bally:

These projects use PinMAME running on a Raspberry Pi to emulate the real ROM.

A lot of stuff is already working very well. But at the moment there're some issue regarding the sound instructions:

 

Since these developers aren't yet active in the Virtual Pinball scene I try to connect both worlds.

@toxie it would be great if you could have a quick look at their discussion.

 

Is there someone else who is familar with the internals of "scond commands" that gets send from the MPU to the sound cards of the various manufactures?

bontango already knows me, and actually he himself provided the patch for PinMAME for LISY  ;)

so what is missing is most likely in his ballpark..
