Dragon 2011

Version: 2011
Category: VP 9.x Originals

Author(s): Bob5453

Description:
This Table can be easily changed to 4x3 by changing the xScale on the backdrop Options to "2"
2011 You need VP9.1.X to play this table. Updated some settings and added Layback to the table

A Fantasy art EM table. I think there's a place in the real world for new tables built similar to the most successful style of pinball tables, the old EM's.

All of the art used in this table is made from one picture I found on the web.

After playing this table 5 times or so I'd have to say it's a great table to play. It's amazing how fast you put this together from your Demo VP9 table Bob!

Thank you. This is really the type of table I prefer playing, it's the type of table I grew up playing in the pool hall and airport. smile.gif

I also like to try to nudge the ball away from the outlanes, even if it creates a TILT, that is why I didn't add a collect Bonus at the end of a ball, because then you'd lose this Bonus on a TILT and I hate that. smile.gif

After you win a Free Ball, the Special Lights stay lit for Free Games, even after you win a Free Game, the Specials stay lit until you lose the ball. You can run the credits up to nine, this is also similar to lots of the old games, where you could win many free games on the same ball.

I'm retired, so my three weeks working on a table is longer then most people's three weeks, I'd say I spent about 160 hours on this table. smile.gif I also have lots of VP experience and my Photoshop skills have exceeded my own personal expectations. In the last 6 or 7 years, there is rarely a week that goes by that I don't load Photoshop up to use, even if it's only to create a screenshot.

Hi Bob,

Although this type of EM-table is not my cup of tea so to speak for playing, I'm marveling at the beauty of the art! This is where older EM-tables blow away more modern SS-tables. I will load it up just to look at it, maybe even play some balls.... happy.gif

Thanks for the very nice table Bob. It's the style of table that I also love to play because of the many games played at the "High-Spot" fry, burger, chili-dog, and snow cone joint across the street from my high school way back in the day. Of course I didn't waste any of my money on the greasy food there, but plugged it into the pinball machines there instead during lunch hour.

Ramps! I need ramps...ON your next table you could combine SS and EM...I, missed the EM era but play them on Vp....love the artwork and the major differences between newer pins and the older ones....wasn't born until 1972...so by the time I was old enough to really play, SSs took over the arcades....Can't help it I am not that old! Only 37 going on 80! smile.gif

Nice table, Bob! It is a good example for beginners of what you can do in VP.

Anyone (StevOz?) check out that bumper flash? I put bumpers under the table, so only the top is showing on the table, then I tried to create a bumper base graphic. This makes the bumper base 3 dimensional and then I just synced up the flashing with the normal bumper's flashing or lit stage. smile.gif

Thanks for the comments..... They are always appreciated.

@Marv. Ramps suck.... They take up way too much table space, block the table art, usually do nothing but send the ball back to an inlane or a flipper. Combos are the dumbest thing I've ever experienced while playing a game. There's not a bigger turnoff in the gaming world than shooting a ball halfway up a ramp and then having the ball slowing reverse its direction and drain straight down the middle (SDTM.) I actually blame ramps for the decline of pinball. smile.gif

Just checked it out Bob, good thinking ol' man and I like it, took me a minute or two for me to figure out what you were on about in the editor and it never helps when the author doesn't lock objects in position. tongue.gif

Nice table, plays very well, mind you, it's a little too simplistic for my tastes and really it looks more like an early SS design then a EM machine, heck it even has an early SS score display. A few flaming electronic dragon sounds would be nice, oh and some more complex rules with multiball and bonus features, still each to their own.

Oh and I reckon I could have built this table with irfanview/xnview, there's nothing there I couldn't replace with decals or ordinary VP lights and before you say jaggy VP lights, with hardware rendering on this is no longer the case. wink.gif

Nice one Bob. smile.gif

I locked some things, I usually select the entire table and lock it when I'm done, but for some reason, this time it would crash my pc and restart it.

I love those simple EM tables. smile.gif I don't think the reel transparency is fixed yet, so the EM type EMreels that I normally would use don't look so good without it, so I straightened an old Gottlieb reel to use. smile.gif I like those bells too. smile.gif Maybe someday, in an update, I'll throw in something new....

On most of my pins I keep ramps to the sides so as not to detract from the actual playfield, check out my new upload for an example! (Zen) I NEVER liked ramps that drained sdtm either (staright down the middle, sorry) my next few wip's also will incorporate ramps but again they will most likely be afterthoughts and on the sides as I like my table middles uncluttered to showcase the pictures and the actual targets
