I´m getting "GLAD failed" error when I try to start a table, can anyone help me out? :)

Make sure you have the latest video driver and that your video card can do OpenGL. What video card do you have?

Here is a link to help you find the latest video drivers for OpenGL. Pick the type of video card brand you have (AMD/ATI, Intel, or NVidia).

https://www.khronos....nloading_OpenGL

Most true 3D video cards normally come with OpenGL capability built in to the drivers these days.

Thanks for your tips! But unfortunately it didn´t help upgrading my drivers, still the same error... I have a NVIDIA GFX 1060 3GB.

(Between the STUDIO drivers and GAME READY drivers, I choose the STUDIO driver (cause it said to be the best for stability and for developers.

Don´t know if that matters?)  Do you have any other suggestions I can try? Thanks!

Try the other driver. I also had this issue once. Then I found out, that I did connect the HMD with the mainboard instead of the gpu.

Thanks blindpeser for your reply! I changed the driver to GAME READY but the error still remains unfortunately...

Sorry, but not 100% sure what you mean by "Then I found out, that I did connect the HMD with the mainboard instead of the gpu".

I guess you´re saying that you recommend connecting the HMD to the GPU and not to the mainboard... correct? :-)

The thing is I do not have a VR headset,I have a Kinect 360 set up and I´m trying to get headtracking with BAM working in VPVR like

Ohh ok. Then I guess that VPX just tells you, that there is no HMD connected. You probably should start a new topic on the VP subforum and ask for help to get BAM started. You also could shoot a private message to Ravarcade here.

I have the same error and also the same GPU (but the 6GB version). Are you running it on a laptop by any chance? I do. Has your problem been solved?

Studio driver is much better tested with professional applications (like 3ds Max, Maya, production renderers, etc). So for games, etc there should be no real benefit.

Thanks for your response. What do you mean by 'wrong' HDMI port? I cannot connect My Rift S to any other port than the MiniDP port of my laptop, as the Rift S uses Displayport (and USB 3.0). No other VR application ever produced errors on this system.

Maybe I can use a Displayport to HDMI converter?

Sorry mate, didnt recognize that you use a Laptop. I got that error message, when I plugged the odyssey into the mainboard hdmi port on my pc.

Not sure if a converter would fix your problem. If you get one for free or a low amount, you could try it.

Hi there!

I hope you can help me, I am trying to run VPVR on my Latitude E5450 laptop.

Specifications:

i5 5300U

Intel HD Graphics 5500.

Windows 10 64 bit

Since I do not own any "proper" VR headset, I would like to use Trinus.

I have installed Trinus SteamVR driver, SteamVR home is playing properly on my adjustable cardboard headset through Trinus.

I downloaded VPX 10.6 and VPVR 2020-12-28 and Addams Family VR ROOM for testing.

VPX plays correctly.

When I start any VR table in VPX (since autodetect is selected) and SteamVR is not yet running, it asks me to start it, then I get "GLAD failed" error.

I understand this might be a driver problem, I downloaded the latest from Dell's support page:

Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver_3PV49_WIN_20.19.15.5126_A11_02.EXE

Since Windows has replaced it with some older one.

But still no luck.

What else should I try out?

Is it possible it won't work with an integrated graphics card like this?

Or maybe altogether this laptop is not powerful enough for VPVR, and first I should build a PC?

Thanks in advance!

Yours is a about 2 generations newer but still in the same class as far as DeLL laptops go.
I have an E5430

I5 3230m

HD 4000 integrated graphics

And VR is not something it is going to do, the i5 wont be able to feed the VR enough frames, even IF i could get the drivers to work

Yours is a bit better, it is a couple generations newer, but it is the same laptop class.
It is built for business use and such.

You would be better of just playing VPX normal
and picking and choosing your tables, some will run good, some will run on the laggy side due to no GPU

VP9 tables, and there are some very good ones, will run absolutely perfectly.

Do the new 5400s still allow the screen to be folded down totally flat?
If so, you could spin the laptop sideways and play in rotated cabinet view
You could also press control alt right arrow and rotate windows too.

I do that with mine as you see in the pic.

So while this laptop wont be optimal, and probably will not do VR
You can still have a lot of fun with it by picking a mix of vp9 and vpx tables

Also you will need to probably run fairly low video settings for best performance
and dont set the max texture size too high, probably 1 or 2 k
It will also help to set vsync to 2

If you feel the need to empty your wallet in my direction, i don't have any way to receive it anyways

Spend it on Hookers and Blow

I hear you, that's what I thought, lack of power...

But as a plausibility, do you have any idea why VR is not working? :) It would be nice to try it out even with average 5 fps.

I think the only VR headset that, maybe might start on that PC is the windows MR headset

though i have no idea if that would work with VPVR
They were designed for low spec machines

What you are using, is your android phone, trying to send VR over bluetooth or wifi or over USB if it works for you

and trinius's website seems to indicate that you need a discrete GPU though they do not bother to mention and specific specs

You wont like 5fps in VR, you will like that less than it not working.
Not working does not rip your eyeballs out

Well Trinus works allright with other SteamVR games/apps, but VPVR says "GLAD failed" what can I do?

Just accept it? :)

The glad failed error is caused by a too high required OpenGL version. You can download the source code of VPVR and do a custom build with a lower version in typeDefs3D.h and of course replace any openGL function with matching code for the lower version. So far I found only two functions that require a higher version than 3.2: glTexStorage2D and glBlitNamedFramebuffer

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, I plan to work a little bit on VPVR over the weekend and I can add this.

No hehehe

You would have to install and set up visual studio 2019

Ok, got that, should I open .sln or .vcxproj?
And it does not find Windows SDK 8.1, since I'm on Windows 10, trying to open up project properties but its empty :\
