This week, I picked up a real-pin Pinball 2000 "Revenge from Mars" in excellent condition at a really good price.

Immediately wanted to add a topper to it in the same style as the hologram playfield.

I had one of those 3D hologram fans in my workshop that we used last year to test a product for a client ... so I pulled it out of storage and started messing around with it.

I set up a test using a slightly modified version of the "Attack from Mars" video topper I made a few weeks back.

Here is the test: http://www.hi-rezdes...pf/afm-1000.mov

The bright spiral pattern is in the iPhone shot video ... no on the hologram video.

I am going to redo the video to "REVENGE" from mars for the final version.

It looks pretty cool, but there are some drawbacks.

1.) No sound

2.) The video will not loop seamlessly because there is a 1-2 second delay before it restarts.

3.) The video is stored on a microSD card built into the fan. You can put multiple videos on it, but you can't "trigger" a video like you would a pup-pack, at least in this $150 version of the fan

4.) It has to be mounted so no one can EVER put their hands near it because its easy to break it, or hurt yourself.

Do you think this is interesting / cool enough to pursue this idea?

Your thoughts?

That would be cool but for me I would not have the Room ( Low ceiling ) but if I did I would look into it

Of course you would have to be able to change video when you started different game

You're example looked fantastic

I see they can get expensive  https://www.amazon.c...sl_7hp3gpncp7_e

Yeah the one I have is 18" diameter. The more expensive ones are bigger. This idea would ONLY be for my real Revenge from Mars pin.

Very impressive for sure!
Agreed the drawback is clearly a high-rate spinning wheel (needs caution for clearance) ! You will probably get past the load on the fly PuP integration (via usb or bluetooth) this is also a must.
Personally I would think this is better done using addressable led matrix instead.
That said the cool factor on this 3D look is awesome!
Hmm....

Love it. I was always thinking such a display would be dope as a topper.

Love it.

I love when people think outside the box.
This is certainly the case.
