Since around 1975, pinball tables began to move to Solid-State technology, however they wouldn’t get Multiball until Xenon, which was the only SS pinball table from 1979 to have that feature.

What I find a little strange is that a lot of SS tables, like Space Riders, Lost World & Dolly Parton, have kickout holes that could easily be used to lock balls for multiball, but instead they simply hold the ball before sending it back out. They could easily have Multiball added in.

This left me wondering: Are there any Visual Pinball MODs to add Multiball to early SS tables that don’t have them? I don’t think it should be too hard.

The only thing that would make it difficult is that most of those early solid state tables would require the rules to be recreated via scripting, the ROMs (mostly) didn't have any support for multiball, and wouldn't understand things like a multiball trough if it were provided. And even the ones that mods have been done to physical tables to provide multiball may or may not be viable depending on how the mod was accomplished, like with the one I seem to recall was out there for Black Hole.

Pick a table and describe how you want it to play.  Describe how you would light a lock, and how to lock a ball or balls.  How to start multi-ball. What other rule changes would you make?  I could maybe code up a demo table if you can describe it clearly.

There are quite a few I'd like to see with Multiball, but let's use Lost World as an example. The top rollovers light the locks for the 2 kickout holes, left rollover for left hole, and the right rollover for the right hole. Then the return lanes will release the locked balls, the left rollover for the left hole, and the right rollover for the right hole, just like with the top rollovers. Hitting the captive ball all the way to the top releases both balls for Multiball. On a sidenote, I'd appreciate a kirk post between the flippers.
