Hi,

this is Still Crazy by Williams. The table has a vertical playfield and did not make it beyond a test production run. Images have been hard to find and so I ended up redrawing all the images.
At the start the table was meant to have four buttons to control each flipper separately. This was changed later to only two buttons and the additinal solenoids are not active .
In the script You have the option to activate the four-button-version.

I included a basic B2S backglass and a System8 vbs file.

>> Place the file "s8_StillCrazy.vbs" in Your scripts folder.

A Tilt is not disqualifiying the player but only disables the flippers for a while.

The gameplay is somewhat shallow, but the table is quite fun - especially with the four-button-version.

Have fun
Michael

Table rules:
The balls are put onto the playfield without stop. Operate the flippers to elevate as much balls as possible to the still at the top.
Each ball arriving at the still will give points and sends the revenuer a bit further down for the next turn. Each time the revenuer made it to the top, the still is emptied and the speed of the revenuer will increase.
The game ends, when the revenuer reached the still with no balls in it.

Wow that is positively WACKY! I never saw anything like this, hahah, such fun. Thanks for this awesome release.

One bug though, when the game is over one ball continues to shoot out to the shooter endlessly.

Hi,

this is not a bug, I think. It seems to be part of the attract mode. After a while the water wheel stops, though. There is a gameplay video (vimeo.com/45726585), where You can see the balls being released even after the game has ended.

The real bug is the Tilt recognition with the Revenuers at the mountain top. Maybe I have to add a watchdog there to cover the event.

Table feels weird

Until you put it into a vertical vector cabinet
Then it feels perfect.

Have a question though
When you enable 4 buttons

Is it supposed to be that after pressing BOOT, you can not hit it again until after you have used the PIPE?
and same for FRYINGPAN and CANNON?

was that part of the gameplay? to try to get them all in sequence?
definitely makes it very hard since the calls keep comming.

Kind of feels like parrapa the rappa LOL

Hi wiesshund,

no, that is a bug. I have the conditions for the InverseButtons mixed up in the Key_Up sub. So the switch stays active. The lines must be as follows:

(starting with line 137)

If keycode = LeftFlipperKey Then

if not FourButtons or (FourButtons and InverseButtons) then

Controller.Switch(4) = 0

end if

...

If keycode = RightFlipperKey Then

if not FourButtons or (FourButtons and InverseButtons) then

Controller.Switch(6) = 0

end if

...
if keycode = LeftMagnaSave then
if FourButtons and not InverseButtons then
Controller.Switch(4) = 0
end if
...
if keycode = RightMagnaSave then
if FourButtons and not InverseButtons then
Controller.Switch(6) = 0
end if

...

Michael

Aye, that fixed it.

To play this table well, you need 4 people LOL

With really fast button mashing ability

This thing just screams for it's own custom cabinet

Thanks for re-creating this game!

I'm having one small glitch.

I have Inverse Flippers and Four Flippers enabled. I also applied your fixes per Wiesshund's request.

Each time I hit the Frying Pan flipper it activates the cannon sound. The Cannon Flipper does not play anything. How do I reverse this?

Hi murve33,

I will try to replicate the problem, You reported. Maybe I will write a PM to ask for more information.

Michael

Edit: I checked the table. WMS used the active solenoids to operate the pan (left lower) and the pipe (right upper). There are no additional sounds for pipe an pan, unfortunately. The fixed version 1.3 will be online in a minute.

Hi Michael

I just downloaded version 1.3 and the table crashes with both VP7.3 (rev388) and VP8beta 1836 (43556db) versions (Table version 1.1 crashes too)

And I use VPinMAME36beta_Janvier2024

Here are crash files

It works fine on my two computers, using VPX7.4 and the latest VPX8 beta. I also have updated vpinmame to the latest from the Github.
