File Submitter: rascal

File Submitted: 24 Sep 2019

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): Rascal
Manufacturer: Williams
Year: 1979
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

This is a VPX recreation of a 1979 Williams King Tut Shuffle Alley Bowler. It needs the rom "kingt_l1.zip" to run. This is a complete remake by me, not a conversion. Started from scratch.

Flippers move arm left and right. Analog and digital plunger pulls the arm forwards and backwards and starts angle rotation.

Left Magna key for the game selection. Selections are Regulation, Flash, Strike 90, 800, and Pyramid.

Hey Rascal, I love these tables!  I do have a question though and I have been waiting for someone to ask, but no one has! Maybe I'm just lousy, but with the old version, the arrow gave a clear idea of where I was tossing the puck.  With the arm, I have trouble figuring out where the arm is pointed.  For example, the first throw is easy because I'm lined up straight, but I like to make it a bit of a challenge, so me and my buddies play, where ever the puck lands thats where you have to throw from.  With the arm, I swear I'm throwing it dead on but it seems to always go a different way.  Again, maybe I just need more practice, but it there some place I should be looking at when aiming?   It may be a little easier with an actual plunger, but I play with a button so every throw is max lol.  Regardless, I LOVE these tables!  Awesome work dude!

Thanks for the kind words. I always pull back all the way and let the hand rotate a while then I try to release where the middle finger is pointing, or at least judge from that. I haven't hit a 300 game yet, but I get into the upper 200s. I usually choke on one or two frames, but I do normally adjust my starting point and try to throw straight, unless its like one or two pins, then I may throw an angle. The way the switches are even laid out on a real table, they are meant to handle mostly stright on throws, but it is fun to just grab and throw through some games and just see how good you can do. With an analog plunger, you can pull back like halfway and you have more of the arm to line up your throw. Practice makes perfect I guess, as it should be, in my opinion.  :drinks:
