I have spent countless hours reading several forum posts and watching lots of how-to videos but I CANNOT get DOF running smoothly.

I have several issues so I’m not sure if each need their own forum post but here goes. I also included my GlobalConfig_B2SServer.xml & Cabinet.xml.

 

My current hardware setup is: 

1 LEDWiz – I have not wired this yet but I will once my other issues are fixed

1 USB Sainsmart (8 port)

1 USB Zebs Shaker Motor

1 Teensy 3.2 – I have not wired this yet but I will once my other issues are fixed

 

 Some of the major issues I have noticed:

 

1. Whenever I add the following line my Sainsmart no longer works in the DOF test table(or any other table):

<CabinetConfigFilePattern>C:\DirectOutput\config\Cabinet.xml</CabinetConfigFilePattern>

 

2. My current DOF config tool settings do not match the output ports on my Sainsmart. When I change my DOF config tool Sainsmart port settings those changes do not take effect after I download the new configs.

 

 

3.  My USB Zebs Shaker Motor does not work at all – it has 12V input, LED status light is lit, and the fuse is good.

With this DOF - The only thing you need the Cabinet.xml file for Teensy

I have gone through the MJR guide a few times and done all of the things it said but it doesnt mention anything about Zebs shaker. Zebs instructions are fairly clear but i could never get it to work, it doesn't consider that the user might have another Sainsmart.

My mistake I know nothing about Zebs Shaker Motor but I know for a fact the Sainsmart (8 port) does not have to go in the Cabinet.xml file..

That being said I just read the instructions and it says you should not need a Cabinet.xml file..

I'm assuming you have it all set up correctly on the DOF website...

Have you tried the shaker motor all by itself Without The Sainsmart configured in and no Cabinet.xml file?

You are missing the most the important thing - the directoutput.log!   That will tell us a whole lot about what is going on.

I tried outheres b2s.xml file and nothing worked out of my shaker. The sainsmart worked but the port assignments are all incorrect despite being laid out correctly on the DOFConfig tool. I also fixed the wrong serial number in my original post.

Not sure about the Sainsmart board but your problem with the shaker is that the serial number is wrong in your cabinet.xml file

 

According to the logfile, Autoconfig is finding name=FT245RBitbangController 1, description: ZB Shaker Motor, serial #SM9EF   and it's loading properly

 

in your cabinet.xml you have ... <SerialNumber>ZBSHAKER</SerialNumber>

 

You don't need a cabinet.xml with the version of DOF that you are using. Change the name to cabinet.bk and try running without it.

I still get nothing from the shaker. I have the adjustment knob  on the board halfway. With the cabinet.xml removed this is my log file. I suspect i will need a cabinet.xml at some point if i want to use my teensy.

You need to do a configuration file for it in DOFconfigTool, you're only loading for the other devices

Also looking at my posted log.. why is DOF loading ini files from my tables folder and not directoutput\config? i think thats part of the problem

Go to and C:\DIRECTOUTPUT  double click and RegisterDirectOutputComObject

And see if that fixes that

Delete or move the ones in the tables folder away from there.  Looks like an instance of double installation of DOF.

I did a ton of forum reading and also implemented your suggestions and found some success. I backed up my DOF folder and installed a fresh copy, removed the 2 ini files in my tables folder (Thanks ZEB!) I used an exact copy of Outthere's cabinet and b2s config.xmls and the first sainsmart works perfect. However the shaker does not respond in the DOF test table (by pressing 'S'). I have my teensy plugged in but not wired yet and  the LEDWiz is not plugged in. I am guessing that the following errors are due to the unplugged LEDWiz? Lets try this

You should not need the cabinet file for anything but the teensy

Move the cabinet file somewhere

 

Some of the error messages in the log file have nothing to do with your set up there's other things going on

We will try to get your shaker motor running 1st

So for now go on the DOF website and under My Account, Set LEDwiz and teensy to 0

For the Number of SainSmart Devices set it to 1 and save...

Set port 1 for the shaker all their ports with nothing

Unplug your 8 relay Saint smart board

For testing you may need to have the adjustment knob on the board set to 3/4

In your config folder Delete all the files that look like this -- directoutputconfig.ini - directoutputconfig30.ini - directoutputconfig40.ini

Then from the DOF website download the new files unzip him and put them in your config folder there may only be one

 

I'm assuming you have the (Zebs) instructions from the website

To test You may have to use a game (Attack from Mars)

Just to add to that, you should be able to test that the shaker motor is functioning properly using the relay test manager software found here .... https://www.zebsboar...c.php?f=38&t=54

 

It's a standalone executable and has nothing to do with DOF.

I will try both of your suggestions tonight. I have the relay test manager software already. it detected 2 sainsmarts but when manually reconized/activated in the software, both tests oddly control my 8 port sainsmart. (i.e. board 1 port 1 & board 2 port 1 control the same relay). I will disconnect the 8port sainsmart and retest. Just to clarify I did follow all of the setup instruction on your site and port 1 is set to the shaker in the DOFconfig tool.

Yeah, that utility recognizes more than 1 board but doesn't operate on multiple serial numbers.  It runs with the 1st serial number it finds for both boards.

 

Unplug the relay board, test the shaker
