I have a problem with this backglass. The center section, which should spin at certain times, goes completely black, usually for several seconds. I have the VPX version of this table as well, and that directb2s backglass works fine. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? My rig uses PUPDMDControl.exe for FX3 games (instead of Freezy's dmdext.exe).

To turn off mirroring, I went into my launch script and remarked out start /min "" "PUPDMDControl.exe" FX3 PINUP\[GAMENAME]. When I do that, the backglass still has the same problem (and, of course, the DMD is is blank). Other FX3 directb2s backglasses seem to work OK, even newer ones, although I noticed WIlliams Junkyard isn't quite right (there's a point in the game where you should see some lights sequence in the backglass and you're supposed to hit the flippers to stop it... that doesn't work). My DOFLinx is version 6.84.

This is one of the more complex backglasses.  I have kept the same effects as in the original, but remember for FX3 the triggers are different - the same applies to Junkyard.  SO while the effects on the backglass are the same as the original game we simply do not have the triggers at the correct points to run the effects.  I often struggle with the trigger points from the original game (because I'm actually a shit pinball player), so if you know what triggers the effect I can see if there is actually such a trigger available.

Does the centre activate at all for you?  I can always look up what trigger in the game is running it if you just don't see it run.

In FX3 the center section does not activate. It does go completely black at times. The VPX version of this active backglass running with the VPX table in Visual Pinball works perfectly and triggers when it should.

The central wheel image that spins is setup as an animation called "WHEEL".  In the FX3 file it is linked to three separate triggers from the game being Right SlingShot, Bumper #3 and the Left Juggler lane.  As per a couple of posts ago, in FX3 tables the same triggers that exist in ROM based tables do not exist.  So all FX3 active backglasses setup for use with DOFLinx link to various other triggers that are available from the table.

You can test the animation via DOFLinx with DEBUG=1 and using the right-click menu,

You can custom link the animation to other table triggers using

xxx|ON|FF_B2S B2SStartAnimation WHEEL

where xxx is the trigger name.  Just edit this into the base of your WMSHurricane.FX3 file

How do you get fx3 to use a db2s?

This is very helpful, thanks. I think I'm getting closer to figuring it out. In the DOFLinx test dialog, I loaded the WMSHurricane B2S file and issued B2SStartAnimation with the WHEEL parameter. The backglass is displayed, but the center wheel animation doesn't work. After a few seconds, the center wheel goes black. Same mis-behavior as in-game. Here's something I don't understand... all of my FX3 mapping files (that were included in the 6.84 zip) are mostly unreadable. Specifically, each FX3 file contains two sections STARTUP and COMMANDS, and the content of those sections is unreadable ascii garbage (using Notepad or Wordpad to look at the file). Is that normal?

Those sections are encrypted to protect the innocent.  You can add unencrypted lines to the end, its designed for that.

I'm stumped. The wheel animation seems to get triggered, but doesn't render properly. Just goes black. For the heck of it I tried changing the size of the backglass (in screenres.txt) to match the original size of the B2S backglass (I think it was 1500 X 1076). The wheel is nice and round at that size, but the animation still doesn't work.

I have the same issue, animation gets triggered but center turns black.

Is there a fix for this? All other Backglasses work...
