I recently started building a pinball machine.

I thought I'd start just like when I built an arcade machine last year, getting the software up and running and then making the cabinet .

But must say that this time it has been more complicated than I had expected!

I started buying a powerful gaming PC, added the screens, and started installing Visual pinball, future pinball and pinballX

I found a stack of cool tables for future pinball, including AC / DC which is one of my youth tables ...

After I set it up, I tried to make it play ... It worked, but not the back glass ... when I finally got the back glass working, i had the the DMD both on the back glass and the play field...

I saved all the settings and turned off the computer and went to bed, looking forward to finding a way to get rid of the DMD on the play field  ...

when i tried today to play a fast game it started loading the game but stopped at "processing registry entries"
if i turn off the second monitor in future pinball, it starts without problems... and without the back glass

I have googled the problem without success ...

then i started on Visual pinball... it was difficult finding the tables and roms that matched...
But found a few... Unfortunately, when i quit a table the "exit dialog box" pops up and thats not fun for when in the cabinet...
And i had no luck getting the DMD to stay in place after restarting a game :(

Luckily, they wrote to me from ZEN (pinballFX3) with a code so that I could make it work in cabinet mode ... but again ... can't make the back glass work ... :(

have used all day today to make it work ....

What to do?

wish there was a simple solution so that I can get it up and running and get started building the cabinet...

Any advice for a new Virtual pinball builder?
how do i get the future pinball and pinballFX3 tables to work with back glass?

Regards Henrik

Not many of us run all three FP and FX and VPX. So you should focus on one system first.

Provide all details on how you installed the system.

Pick one table and provide link to the table and what ever else you downloaded like rom or backglass.

Describe what you tried to change and what behavior you are gettinh

fx2/3 only support a static image for their backglasses,  most of us don't enable that feature in the software

we just use the same video/image from the front end

you could use a db2s file

but you will need to set up a 3rd party software in order to do that.

you can read all about it here

but as gtxjoe suggested,   you should focus on one system and once you have that system working move on to the next.

and future pinball has built in backglass support you just need to enable them in your video settings. their are multiple video tutorials that will show you how to set this up

Yes, you need that.

To get the Backglass to appear in FX3, you need a couple of things (all of which have nothing to do with VPX or FP).

Cabinet code

Coordinates setup properly for your monitors

Simple images for your Backglasses

Here are my notes:

Perhaps helpful hints - but not for "henrikhyldig", he asked over 4 years ago...

How funny.

Haven't done that in a while.
