I wanted an easy first project and I don't think anyone's done this one (please reply if you know otherwise!)

Will post some early screenshots when I'm not totally embarrassed by it.

Sorry to say this one has been done as Jungle Princess, which you can find at irpinball.org. It's up to you if you'd want to continue with an update or a different version, of course! If you'd want suggestions for another table that either hasn't been done or could really use an update, I'm sure people could help out wink.gif

I would say this would be an excellent table to start with as there is a stripped playfield available on IPDB, it's very hard to come up with stripped playfields. I don't think Brettski (VP Jungle Princess table version author) is still around and his version could really use an update anyway.

Are you familiar with this table? Did/do you own it?

Well that's ok - I've done a fair amount of work on it so even if my version isn't unique it's good for practice. I found a reasonable pic of the playfield which I started to clean up as per Scapino's video tutorial, had to redraw the areas around the bumpers and some other spots.

I had a look at Brettski's version - my playfield looks better, so I will continue. No I didn't own the table - I just wanted to do an EM machine from about that era, and JP/JQ had a decent rating on ipdb and I couldn't find a VP version.

Thanks for the offer MrHide - I think I'm ok for pics, I did use the stripped pf from ipdb (and apparently have downloaded a number of your pics for reference). I'm winging it slightly on the repaint of the flowers around the bumpers, but trying hard to keep to the original look.

I might need some help with the rules/scoring though. I'm assuming that the ABC lights start lit and go out as you hit them (unlike Brettski's version). I know you have to complete either (both?) bank of targets for EB, and all rollovers + either (both?) bank for special, but not sure which eb/special light gets lit and whether it moves around. Also unsure as to how the blue bumper gets lit, and whether the wall behind the targets is a slingshot (it looks like one from the pf). Probably more questions later on too. Thanks!

abc: yes they start lit.
either for eb.
blue bumper: B
no slingshot behind targets
special: abc + either

eb: top AND outlanes are lit and move from side to side.

Well I'm figuring out a lot as I go hehe. Here's a screenie of the most recent version, I'll be redoing the layout (again) once I figure out how to get the playfield bigger onscreen.

I got the table view that I wanted, started adding some better lights, recovering original playfield art where possible, futzed around with the code a lot. It's still glitchy but getting there. Needs some good sounds, but Im having a tough time finding them, and my sound "Export" seems broken (the files it creates are often corrupt).

I know virtually nothing about hooking VPM up but I'll give it a shot, if it would make the table better somehow. (would it?)

DMD displays - do you mean a series of digital score "reels" or a true DMD with dot matrix animations and so on - I hope you mean digital reels (like JP's El Dorado) - that I could probably manage. I used emreels as it seemed more authentic.

Anyway the point for me was to learn about VP which I have (also learned a lot about photoshop, which is awesome). I certainly don't mind exploring VPM.

It's an EM isn't it? There'd be no roms...lookin' sweet though! smile.gif

OK JP had me fooled with his el dorado. It's an EM game too, but it uses a rom - but it's the rom from a newer remake of the game. Maybe someone knows of a remake of JQ or a game similar enough to borrow the rom from, but I think that would be version 2.0

I know you have to complete either (both?) bank of targets for EB, and all rollovers + either (both?) bank for special, but not sure which eb/special light gets lit and whether it moves around.

- 3 balls game: all rollovers and either bank, center bumper scores 100 or 1 000 when lit,
- 5 balls game: all rollovers and both banks, center bumper scores 10 or 100 when lit.
For 3 or 5 balls game: only one side for shoot again and special lit at a time. Opposite side lit when special and shoot again lit together. The lights alternate with the center bumper (not sure).

Les cons ça ose tout. C'est même à ça qu'on les reconnaît.

Thanks for the rules update. I have extra ball and special working as you said. I need a few more - like what controls the sidelane light (500 / 5000) on and off, whether the target banks ever reset, and what non-lit inlanes/outlanes/rollovers are worth. Oh and how the heck do you score 10 pts, in the 3-ball version at least.

Side lane lit when you have dropped the correspondant bank.
Target banks reset with new ball...
10 points: all rebound switches
Lanes worth the same value lit or unlit: outlanes = 5 000, other = 500. Side lane 500 or 5 000 when lit.

Les cons ça ose tout. C'est même à ça qu'on les reconnaît.

Does that mean you don't see the tiger? Because you should... Or are you suggesting that I remove him smile.gif
