The table theme sounds (quotes, music, other theme sounds) for Austin Powers are very quiet. The table play sounds like flippers, the ball, the knock are loud. In Options the two volume settings are at 100. Is there any other way to increase the the "table theme" sounds?

Even if I turn the two volumes in options down to just 1, and crank my speakers, the theme sounds are a little better, but the table sounds become way too loud, with the speakers cranked.

If your Austin Powers has table sounds too loud and is of version 1.01. You can download the modified script from github and change those sounds under options. .2  should makes them 1:5 as loud.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

Pinball theme sounds are stored in the ROM.  Use the ROM menu to adjust those sound levels.  Austin Powers is a Stern Whitestar system.  Here are the volume adjustment tutorials   https://www.vpforums...tutorials&cat=9

So, we are talking rom sound. Ok. Not sure about Austin Powers. But, on most VPM tables you can press F12 and there will come up a small dialog box with a 0 in it ( default value ). If you want to lower the rom sound you can give it a new value. But this is might be confusing. Give it a negative value. You have a range from 0 - 32 available. Input -10 makes it 10 "steps" more quiet than 0 does. -32 is almost completely gone. You have to restart VPM each time you change these values.

You wanted it the other way around. So, if it is already at 0, it will not do you any good. I'm pretty sure gtxjoe gave you the correct answer in this case.

The 8 and 9 keys did the trick, still a quiet table, but better. Thanks.

What does the Preferences -> Audio Options -> volumes control? Changing them doesn't seem to change the volume anything?

I hear no music just the table sounds.  Is that normal?  music starts for a split second when rom starts then goes away and only table sounds and Dr Evil voice but no music.

Does anyone know how to fix?  I have turned the volume in rom all the way up

Anyone found a fix for this? Rom volume is maxed out and the music volume is still quite low

What rom are you talking about ? If you are on a cab setup. Maybe your sound is played out of the TV's monitor ?

I tried Austin Powers. My sound is coming from the computer and I set up external speakers. The sound effects are loud but the music volume is very low

Is the music in rom, or external for this table?
If it is external like in an mp3, you could extract the mp3 and normalize or raise the volume

If the music is in rom, i guess next question is are the effects in rom or external?
If external, and you have already maxxed the rom volume, you could turn those down in VP, since there is no way to boost the rom audio louder
than the rom itself will go.

I am guessing you already looked what controls are available for the rom type for adjusting rom volume itself?

Also, it may make no difference but what is your exact audio setup?
stereo? surround, etc

I'm using Stereo. Yeah so the only workaround (since the music is in rom and sound effects are external) is to lower the volume close to nothing for the sound effects in VPX and max the music volume. Then crank up the volume on the speaker to max. However because VPX doesn't save the volume settings individually for each table, I will probably have problems on tables that have both the music and sound fx as external. The music will be way too loud

Id have to try this table out.
But from other comments, seems the music is very quiet.

I dont know how this table was physically put together
Maybe in real life it had a separate amp for the music track or something.

Doubt it is a bum ROM, rom dumps are digital, it is either complete or it isnt

You can use PinVol to set volume for each table separate.

Was about to suggest pinvol myself. Depending on what table/rom you are talking about. There are some rom's that are very loud by default. Some of them, you can used F12 and get a dialog box pop up. By default it should say 0. If you put in a negative - like '-6' it becomes more quiet. You can go as far as to -32. I recommend to do do a full restart of the table after changing that.

Thanks, I'll try that. Sorry about the font, I originally replied within the quote box. Then I edited it by cutting/pasting it out of the box.

Has anyone figured out the sound issues with this table/rom?  Can't hear anything but the mechanical sounds of the table.  No table sounds, music, quotes, etc.

Have adjusted the ROM volume.  Have lowered the mechanical sounds in the script and in VPX options.

Tried different ROMS.

No matter what I do I cannot hear the table music. Does anyone have a ROM where the music plays normally?
