Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

Thanks to:

Flying Dutchman for your UVP animated backglass.
Destruk for its VP9 table, from which I took all the data of the lights, which I could not get anywhere else.
to dboyrecords for his table rotated to FS and his directb2s, from which he took the image to recreate mine.
Hmueck for his playfield image that I used as base. (here the link)
https://www.vpforums...&showfile=10965

The table was recreated taking the image of Hmueck, mentioned above, recreate all the playfield based on that image, trying to finish it as close as possible to the original, the same with the plastics, with images obtained from the internet, which improve graphically, try to give the most similar physics to what I could see in the videos i found on Youtube.
This table has as a difference, that when completing the lights of GOLDBALL, when losing the ball, the next one will be a golden ball and the value of the points are tripled during that ball.
Well I hope you like it, it was done trying to take care of the details, within my humble possibilities.

From what I understand about gold ball is that the gold ball comes out at random times as well, not only when you spell out gold ball. Does this table do this as well, or only lighting gold ball? Either way, what an awesome table! I really enjoy the tables you have been releasing, I spent about an hour on this one last night!

In the DIP switch settings (F6) you can choose whether the gold ball comes skill based or by percentage. I guess the latter setting is the one when the ball comes out random.

From IPDB:

"Has two balls, one silver and one gold, but no multiball feature. The gold ball feature as issued from the factory uses an operator-adjustable percentage (1-15%) for the random release of the gold-colored ball into the shooter lane, awarded as an extra ball. When the gold ball is in play, all playfield scores are tripled.

The field service upgrade kit converts the gold ball release rules to a skill feature instead of a percentage. The player must light G-O-L-D-B-A-L-L using the center standup target, the star rollovers, or the left return lane. The gold ball will be issued once the current ball has been lost and is considered an extra ball."

It makes me very happy that you enjoy the table, thanks roccodimarco, and as I told you I really liked your version of Street fighter, I use it often

you can also use another rom with a six-digit marker and no attraction mode that uses the random system for the golden ball
ROM goldball for example

Hi,

cannot get the table to run. Regardless where I place the Bally.vbs (in tables ot script directory or in both), the table starts, the displays switch on, but I cannot insert coins or start a game.

Attached File  Bally.zip   1.7KB   3 downloads

this is my Bally.vbs

any hint will be appreciated.

You should only have one bally.vbs and it should be in scripts folder and if you're curious to what version it should be. The one you get from the 10.5 all-in-one installer OR the minimal version of 10.5. That is the only hint I'm going to give you :)

If you absolutely swear that you need some old vbs. Rename it - eg. oldbally1.vbs and change the table that use that too. Still, if you do, keep that oldbally1.vbs file in script folder.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

Hi Sverre, dear other readers,

I investigated deeper in it, my Cab-PC was running the table at the first try so I compared location and versions of these components on my Lab-PC.

Bally.vbs, both are v3.36, but the younger is a few larger.

core.vbs was v3.52 I changed to v3.56 - no effect

controller.vbs v1.2 on both systems

when I start the table with the older Bally.vbs I get these messages:

1st:

Attached File  Gold Ball 1st error message.jpg   28.78KB   5 downloads

2nd:

Attached File  Gold Ball 2nd error message.jpg   33.55KB   5 downloads

when I click both "ok" the table starts and plays ok, but without flipper arm controls

(I have added to the script a tiny routine that allows to contol the arms regardless the game is in play mode or not)

Question, can anyone say with the messages I get where the bug is?

With my best regards, Christian.

Yes. I know what that is. I see the version numbers you give me and those seems correct. You need 3.55 or newer of core.vbs. So, it is weird that you say that you have changed your core.vbs. Obviously, somewhere it is picking up a older version. Not many know this. But, actually, check your users folder as  well. That is one location if will search for *.vbs files as well.

In your case I would search the whole computer :) - well, all folders under your VP install should be ok ....

You can check that I'm right. Just go into the table script and find.

useSolenoids=2 - change that to useSolenoids=1, and you should be fine. Ok, the old slow vpm flippers, but still. You should not get an error.

Nothing else than - you made me curious. Did you find any stray *.vbs elsewhere ?

Yes, I had two back ups of older installation on the HDD, further I had originally set up the PC with the VPX2 installer. Later I added VPX5 on another partition and started all X-tables from there (and here the accident occurs).

Ah. Yes, VP can NOT be installed in two different locations without compiling special versions ( you kind of need to do this yourself ).
What you should do is to keep ONLY the *.exe of the old version you want to run in the same folder as the one-in-all installer puts them. ( VPX, PM5 and latest VP9 )

Eg. VP9.14.exe or whatever it is called.

Never install the full minimal from a old version into VP or other location.
VP uses registry to find where it is installed, so you will simply fool yourself into believing that it is working from that folder.

Using his rule, there isn't "dangerous" to run beta versions as well. You should however then NOT install them as VPinballX.exe - but, VPinballBeta.exe
or something like that. I do, VPinball_<revnum>.exe so I can go back and test a few versions back if there are issues.

The second advantage to do it this way is that you don't change the relationship between double clicking *.vpx file and starting the official newest version.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.
