File Name: Canasta 86 (Inder 1986)

File Submitter: jpsalas

File Submitted: 18 Aug 2018

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): jpsalas
Manufacturer: Other - Pinball
Year: 1986
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: No

Based on the Inder table from 1986.

Thanks to:
version 4.1:
- nestorgian for the redrawing of the plyfield and the plastics.

older versions:
- Carlos Guizzo fior the image of the apron
- Batansa & Adrian for the pictures of the real table
- Jose Manuel Lopez & Destruk for their VP table
- tinyrident for the Dip switch sub.
 -Maior for the rulesheet.

I have used the images from my VP9 table, so they are not very high quality images, but they are good enough to play the table, and VPX does an amazing job with the lightning :)
The fastflips are enabled, so you know the story... if you are still using an old VPX & vpinmame the change the line Const UseSolenoids = 2 to Const UseSolenoids = 1 :)

I don't remember who asked for this table, but here you have it :)

And don't forget to use the level of darkness by holding down the left CTRL and use the right CTRL to reduce the level of light. There are 15 levels. In my monitor the level 6 fits very well.

I got the pictures from Batansa & Adrian 11 years ago to make the first version of Canasta. Time flies! :)

I don't remember who asked for this table, but here you have it :)

Oh. So we only need to ask you for a table and then we get it ? Good to know - LOL !!

Well. In the pace yo've been releasing I almost believe you actually would be able to do so. You are nothing less than amazing JP

Thank you once again !

Yes, Thalamus, it usually works like this :) Someone ask me for a table and if I have the resources then I make it. The time I spend doing a table depends of the images and the type of table. I had already made this table for VP9, so it was easy to make it for VPX, since I already had the images, and the script :) And I never "convert" a VP9 table to VPX, I build it from scratch since most of the objects will need to be replaced.

So, that means we will most likely see a Radical and a RolleCoaster Tycoon if I just ask politely. Ah dang. I just did ;)

You have more than a few great VP9's that hasn't been done yet in VPX :)

I have had those tables in my mind for a while :) Radical has too many ramps for me to do, since I know 0.01% of how to make them in Blender :) But RollerCoaster is in my list of to do tables, but I need to find some resources first, like good images and the troll :)

Many people have asked me to convert the music tables to VPX (Black Sabbath, Grateful Dead) and Scarface, so I have enough to do. For now I prefer to make easy tables waiting for VP12, maybe we got a build in DMD for originals, diect support for 2 or 3 screens ++ :)

Is there already a "quick" B2S avaliable for this great table?

It's impossible only if you believe so. ;)

Weird ... I just posted and then reloaded the page seeing laylow replied 16 minutes before me. That is some odd cache behavior.

if you have a high enough quality PF image and the resources to make radical,  I would be willing to make the primitive ramps.

I will only do them for a HQ PF image,   see my sig,  I made one for Godzilla because I had a HQ PF image I could use.

I tried to make the Hurricane ramps but decided not to because the PF image was warped AF!!,  what is the point of making ramps that are deformed.

I made a set for your Party Zone table

https://www.dropbox.... ramps.vpx?dl=0

but I screwed up on the thickness of the plastic.  the height of the physical ramps have to be adjusted. in order for them match up with the shape of the primitive.

Yes, I have very nice resources, plastics and playfield redrawn by Grizz. The ramps should be the same as in the VP9 table. That will be really nice if you can make those ramps :D

the vp 9 table

https://www.vpforums...s&showfile=5400

was built with the incorrect dimensions

I would assume that the VPX rebuild will be done with correct Williams dimensions, the PF image would be padded so that the full apron is visible.

when all that is done,  all the ramps will have to be reshaped to  match the new PF image.

when all that is done we can export the visible ramps as an obj object so that we can import and shape them in blender.

Ok, then I'll build the table first and then I'll send it to you to make the ramps :)

Sería fantastico tener Canasta 86, esta joya española, con los grádicos que se merece. Me gusta tanto que estaba retocando algunos detallitos graficos en el playfield y el apron , y ahora he leido esto.

Mil gracias JP and CO   :otvclap:.

The lights of the targets do not go off between ball and ball, and neither between one player and the next.

It will be an error in the script ?? Is there a possibility to solve it?
Thanks !!

Another question; The extra balls do not mark them well in the Backglass, it says 2 when there is only 1 , etc.  and it lights up "game over" when he wants ..

The solution to the Backglass problem I found here:  https://www.vpforums...s&showfile=7752
Marauder wrote : The ROM lights are mapped incorrectly. You are using the manual of the machine as reference and the manual is incorrect. Extra Ball 1, 2 and 3 are 13, 14 and 15 respectively. Game Over is 32.

In this photo it can be seen as at the beginning of a ball, the targets are up but the lights of the targets that were hit in the previous ball are still on.

Please JP , any solution? I love this pinball !!   Thanks !!

UPDATE:

1.0.1 Updated 22.08.2018
- Fixed lights not resetting after new ball.

I was using the Lampcallback to turn on and off the lights, now I have changed to an own timer, and the lights seem to work fine now.
