File Name: Aladdin's Castle (Bally 1976) - DOZER - MJR_1.01.zip

File Submitter: Dozer316

File Submitted: 15 May 2018

File Category: VPX Recreations

Author(s): Dozer - MJR
Manufacturer: Bally
Year: 1976
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

This is a conversion of MJR's VP9 Aladdin's Castle to VPX.  I thought I'd tackle an EM for a change as I wanted to try a table without a ROM and also because this game has a special place in my nostalgic past.

This was the first pinball machine I ever played at the ripe old age of 7 years old :) - It was located in a shop directly across from the house I grew up in so I spent many a night feeding coins into it.

I spent a bit of time on the desktop mode and even threw some animations in there. Probably went over the top a bit but this was a great learning experience for me so I kept going.   There are some graphics features that are specific to desktop mode and these can be found at the start of the script.

The included B2S was the one originally created by MJR for the VP9 version and is included in the archive.
Have Fun - Dozer.

Isn't it funny how we can remember these great times as a kid so long ago? I can remember very vivid details including smells, other games around the ones that I played, and the good friends that I had with me at the time. Nowadays, my kids sit at home on the headset playing Fortnite with kids from around the world. I don't know if that is better or worse....just different?

Love the “electric current drain” effect on GI when you press flippers.

this is too cool, like how the hands press the flippers when you hit the flipper keys just like in real life

I seem to be having a problem getting this board to run properly. The game starts up fine, but as soon as I hit the flippers, I get the error "Line 661: variable is undefined: DOFFlippers"

I have Visual Pinball X 10.4.0, and I've downloaded the most recent version of the board (1.2). Is there anything else I need to install beforehand, or am I missing something really obvious?

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks kindly!

Awesome.  An all-time favorite as well... I own the actual machine too.

Thanks!

Fair enough. I tried that and it worked. But for my own education, what is DOFF?

DOF = is all the Stuff like LED's and Shaker's in Cabinet … i also haven't,
and i guess you also not, so you asked.

But i recommend, you should update to latest 10.5 Version.

Only you have to replace the Files, esp. Script Folder and Files.

I'm having an issue with the high score initial entering that I'm hoping someone can help me with.

The prompt shows up sideways on my playfield. It's rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise from where it should be. My playfield is set to portrait orientation in Windows, which I know is less common than landscape. Could that be causing the issue?

Is there anything I can change in the table script or table editor to position this properly for my cab? Or, if not, is it possible to disable the high score function?

Great table! It looks beautiful and is so much fun to play.
