After a dual boot failure I was forced to revise my PC setup and thought I should try to focus on one instead of two operating systems for the cabinet PC only.

No sooner said than done! The biggest problem was to install the pin dmd driver itself as windows 10 does not allow unsigned drivers.

I was able to solve this chapter after reading the following help: https://www.deskmodd...eren_Windows_10

With windows 10 I was yesterday not able to reach a working state for all the tables.

I choosed to copy my latest backup over the installation and it now seems to nearly work fine.

However, I have one problem with a few VPX tables. There is for example with CV_DMD_  http://www.vpforums....&showfile=11663

no animation shown on my PinLED.

The Robocop table shows a working PinLED. http://www.vpforums....&showfile=11617

My question is, do other windows 10 users have this problem too? Should I continue to use windows 7 or is Linux the better way to go for the longterm?

Not sure if it helps you, but each and every table works fine on my windows 10 system. No problems either with my PinDMD3, DOF, DMDext and DOFLinx and of course my two boards - a LEDwiz clone and a PinControl1.

Good luck!

Timo

Sorry for the late reply. Today I had the time for the error search. As it seems the VPinMAME did not use the PinDMD2 as default. The test with the rom and the separate game option setting inside the test installation VPinMAME solved the problem. (I like the latest VPX installer very much! http://www.vpforums....&showfile=11573)

Another feature I can not remember how it was set in the past is the separate sound setting. As it seems VPinballX.exe and VPinball993.exe just use the opposite setting as sound output to have the same set of speakers in usage.

I am very happy! :)

I restarted the cab today. The last time before a few days everything worked as it should. Unfortunately the PinDMD2 is again not working. I know that there are maybe other possible reasons why it does not work at the moment too. Please do all that the hardware is supported flawlessly under windows 10 out of the box. I do not have much time for error searching right now but it is again frustrating for me to see it does not work again. I hope that there is no other error from windows or the mainboard involved. Is there any other user with problems with PinDMD2 and windows 10?

Today I unplugged all usb devices and moved them back in a different port. I avoided usb 3.0 ports as usual for the pindmd2 and to my surprise everything works again! It seems that the last windows update was the cause itself. I also did a new reboot to confirm the state is persistent.

Here you can see how the working device is listed in the device manager. :-)
