File Name: Fathom (Bally 1981)

File Submitter: 32assassin

File Submitted: 14 Aug 2016

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): 32assassin
Manufacturer: Bally
Year: 1981
Permission to MOD?: Unspecified

PF recovered from Unclewillys VP 9 table

New set of Plastics

I was smart enough to group objects by color when I redrew the apron/plunger cover for another table, I simply changed the color overlay and stroke color and had the
correct apron and plunger for this table.

Ha :-), yesterday I play the VP9-version. Really good table and I like to play the VPX-version. I hope, the table is not to fast for my age.:-)
Thanks!

Very cool Thanks to everyone involved. New plastics look nice and the gameplay is great.

Bally sure hit a home run with the artwork on this table.

This is some of Greg Freres best artwork as far as I'm concerned.

Apologies for the double post.

The only thing I can't figure out is aren't the lagoon and cave drop targets supposed to be down at the beginning of the game/ball? In Unclewillys VP9 and PM5 versions the drop targets are down at the beginning of the ball and also online videos indicate the same. All versions including this are using the Fathom rom not the Fathomb rom (not sure what all the differences between the two are anyhow as I have only played the production rom). I deleted the nvram files to see if that might be the problem but that didn't help. Options are also set the same for all games as well.

I also tried checking the script to see if I could find anything but to my untrained eye I couldn't see anything that stood out.

Am I the only one having this issue?

no you are not,  I rebuilt the code from PacDudes VP8 version

and it had this comment in the code

'Drop Target Initialize (Regular Banks dropped just for effect as game resets them on startup)

The Targets should be dropped at the start but the action is rom controlled,  for some reason the solenoids ( I assume) are not dropping the targets at startup.  I will look into the code when I get a chance and see what is wrong.

Thanks for the feedback 32 and for checking into the problem. Like I said it's a great recreation and hopefully the fix isn't a major one.

How do I turn off the solenoid sounds?  I have full feedback and the sounds and feedback don't sync.

Thanks

I have a problem with the player 1 scorebox as one of the LED lines is not showing up. For example 800,000 shows up as 900,000 and 600,00 shows up as 500,000. It is just one line that does not light up. How do I fix the score box

their is something wrong with the settings on that light,  you can either

figure out what is wrong with the light and change the settings

or

delete it and copy and past another light.  (Make sure its named LED24)

version 1.1 will have the fix

You also might want to check the left blue and green drop targets. Are they supposed to drop a captive target when knocked down because they don't seem to?
