Here’s an interesting documentary from 1982 looking at the early arcade scene in the UK. It tries to explain the philosophy behind the machines. Personally myself I can relate to both after spending my teens in the arcades back in the early 80’s first drawn to the arcade machines, Defender being the holy grail of them all. It wasn’t until the arcade acquired Centaur with its taunts from across the arcade that I started playing the pins. Either way my passion for the arcade has always stayed with me.
