Wondered what thoughts were around creating a table using the nice clean Alien pf image for the yet to be released game was?

Obviously no recreation or copy of the table play - but using the image? Are the admins cool with that?

If a playfield is put up publicly like that it can be expected.

Got bored at this point. If I was going to code the game I'd rather remake Ghostbusters atm.

Why not ask Eala Dubh Sidhe (who I understand is a part of the dev team )? Personally, I'd suspect the company would have mixed feelings about it, especially as they are likely to be bound to some licensing restrictions. However it could be a clever promotional item if they were able to release it if the community would observe some limitations/restraints...

Ask if it's OK to place a few objects around an image inside VP?

If they didn't want anything to come of that image it would've been locked down.

I'm not sure why it is thought that "if it's on the Internet, it's fair game for anything."

The industry deserves more respect than that, folks. We're here to preserve pinball history, not create pinball's present or beat them to it!

You have any idea how many calls I've gotten asking to remove 'new' stuff from those with that power? Too many!

If you really want to use that image, I'll ask Andy. I will say it's not likely he'll be fond of the idea, so why can't that just be respected?

I think it wouldn't be "fair game" if it was reverse engineered and uploaded online and peddled out, but no one has actually said that.

Take a good look for the tables I've uploaded here (or anywhere) and then presume that I would do such a thing.

There is no harm in sticking a few objects around an image.

Nope. No harm at all. The important thing, well, the only thing that really matters, is how the owner of that material sees it.

For example, other sites host Whoa Nellie, Big Juicy Melons. Greg was kind enough to take time out of his day to chat with us in our chatroom, and that very question was asked. He nicely asked us to NOT emulate it, yet there are sites that host it!

This is what I'm talking about. It's wrong, and it's a big kick in the face to my friends in the industry. These are people I have a relationship with!

I don't want Andy being upset with us. He's invested a lot, and asking is the right way to do things.

I recall saying here to someone not to do that when they started a WIP thread for a FP version of WNBM, same with Metallica for Unit3d when this game was still very new.

It should go without saying.

But, it HAS to be expected from someone somewhere if you go uploading a decent sized resolution of a playfield image.

Andy should be far from a stranger to it, Slamtilt was selling, 'aka' taking donations for new Stern FP builds a while back.
