How do you change how many credits you get per coin?

I played The Amazing Spider-Man DT table quite a bit & was getting 4 credits when pressing the “5” key on the keyboard. But the other day it started giving only 1 credit per key press. I looked under the settings in “F6” but there is nothing regarding this. I have no idea why it changed or what I might have done to change a setting.

I like the 4 credits per coin. How do you change this setting?

I just downloaded the DT version of Black Knight and it gives 3 credits per coin drop. That's OK, but again where do you find a way to change this setting?

You need to read the pinball game manual and see which DIP switch/switches or rom menu controls the coin settings

Thanks for the links.

Years ago I had a real Amazing Spider-Man pinball & as you mentioned the settings were controlled by DIP switches. And I also looked at another online manual. But since there are no hardware DIP switches to change I'm not sure how to change the settings in a ROM menu.

I found this thread earlier & will have to read through the instructions again to see what I'm working with.

http://www.vpforums....3290&hl=credits

Speaking of threads, is there anyway to print out a single posting which may have instructions I want to keep? I know I can copy/paste, but some forums let you single out a individual message which makes it easy to print. So far I don't this possible here.

Regarding Spider-Man -

Last night I renamed the nvram file & a new one was generated when the table ran again. I looked in the new nvram file using MS Wordpad & it had some symbols/characters that meant nothing to me. But it also had the number 4 after some of the characters.

So I looked at the nvram file that I renamed (which made it inactive) and it contained similar characters to the newly generated file, but there were no numbers at all in it. Somehow the credits got changed. Maybe I inadvertently hit a certain keystroke combination that did this, but that seems kind of unlikely. Any idea what the heck caused this change?

I'm still lost on how to convert a DIP switch setting to making a change in a software setting.

I looked at this on how to adjust credits.
http://www.vpforums....3290&hl=credits

I selected the link for the Gottlieb Series 80 which is non-DMD and opened its tutorial. However it pertained to reply scores & credit displays, but nothing about credits per coin. Pressing 7 on the keyboard does step through a series of displays but there is no way to tell if any of these relate to credits/coin.

The instructions for number of balls per game say to press F6, which I previously looked at. That does bring up several options, but nothing regarding credits/coin.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

For AS, press F6 and set the DIP switches S1-S12 based on the Spiderman manual.  Page 1 has the Coin vs Credits settings

For BK, press, 9,8,7,8 then press 8 until you get to setting 19. Use the 1 key to set this to the desired coin setting in the manual on page 6.  Repeat for settings 20, 21,22,23,24,25.  F3 to save setting

Thank you again for the reply & information.
I must be missing something or looking at things wrong. I frequently see comments about setting DIP switches & referring to the manual. But so far I have never seen DIP switch numbers when pressing F6. I just see descriptions & cannot find any correlation between the two, For example here is what comes up when I do a F6 on Amazing Spider-Man. Unfortunately there is no S1-S12 listed. What am I doing wrong?

Ahh that table uses a custom dip switch menu, which does not offer the Coin adjustments.  If you want the full DIP Switch setting, open the script and comment out this line by adding a ' in the front of the line

Set vpmShowDips = GetRef("editDips")

to

'Set vpmShowDips = GetRef("editDips")

And then you will see this when you press F6

gtxjoe -

Wow - thank you very much. That makes a big difference. Now I can set it for 4 credits/coin.

But I don't know why this setting changes after awhile. I looked at the full DIP switch settings and they were set for 1 credit/coin.

I deleted the nvram file & of course a new one was create when I played again. Now when I looked DIP switches 2,9, &10 for the coins were set.

2 = 1 coin / 5 credits for the left chute.

9 & 10 =  2 coins / 4 credits for the center chute.

I did have to press #5 twice to get the 4 credits but just thought the first press woke up the coin door. Obviously now I know it was set for 2 coins.

Still don't know why things change after many plays but at least I can quickly reset to my liking.

I also set another table (Dolly Parton) to full DIP switches to figure out the sound settings. In the Custom menu 1 of the settings did not indicate chime effects which I was trying to turn off but could not. But using the full DIP menu & looking at the manual it turns out there is always going to be some chimes no matter what I do.

Many thanks again for some very helpful information.

Hi GtxJoe, this will work on all the tables?

I try this on Sinbad and Pinball Pool (both VPX), I comment the line Set vpmShowDips = GetRef("editDips") and the full dip switch didn't show.

Can you help me please?

Thanks a lot!

Hi Clyde,

commenting out the table script activates the code present in the VBS file of this table. Normally there You find the standard DIP switches with no caption.

However, on some table VBS files the default DIP switch code is missing. Then You will have no menu availiable on F6.

Destruk posted a tutorial on creating a DIP switch menu and Incochnito has a library of cutomized menues for a lot of tables.

library:

http://www.vpforums....s&showfile=2261

If You want to set the DIP switches in the default mode, please keep in mind, that the manual is not always correct. I had some Spanish pins with manuals, where I had to find the correct settings by 'try and error'.

Hi Clyde,

the VBS files should be only in the script folder to avoid mixed up versions.

Ha ha, You found a script bug within the gts1.vbs. There is a line missing, that prevents the menu display. Please add  a new line with 'vpmDips.ViewDips' before the 'END SUB' as following:

' Dip Switch / Options Menu
Private Sub GTS1ShowDips

...

  End If
  vpmDips.ViewDips
End Sub
Set vpmShowDips = GetRef("GTS1ShowDips")
Private vpmDips

Regards

Michael
