File Category: VPX Recreations

Hold down left flipper key for options menu.
directb2s included
DOF by arngrim DOF factory
backglass photo by scottamus on Flickr (he has a nice collection of very good shots out there)

FS settings in the table are for my cab which has the playfield in portrait mode, most of you will need to adjust the Backdrop settings.
Here is a starting point for those of you running it the wrong way  :)  I can't vouch for how well it looks.

great table thanks borg!!!

two question:

- in my cab doesn't work slingshot right. is due to my 8 contactors config?

- could i ask you why your tables work without vpinmame and without rom?

@nicco84   the right "sling" is not a actually a sling, no kick in it, just a rubber bound triangle that looks like it would be a sling, hence no DOF feedback in your cab.

Not sure what you mean?  chimes sounds are there unless you answered yes for DOF and have it running chimes through there.  check the controller.txt file in visual Pinball\Users if you don't have mechanical chimes then the 4th line should read UseDOFChimes=0

Thanks, having a real Joker Poker next to the mini-cab I've learned a couple things.  1. the mini cab is way small, need to build a full size, very strange to play the mini after the full size.  and 2. I have a lot more work to do to get the physics to be near to the real one.  the basics are not too bad, but it's the little things that are driving me nuts, and the much more randomness seeming of the real one, just things like the plunger rod is not nearly as predictable as the vp one, pull slightly sideways for instance causes a little drag and hence not as hard a hit, not sure how to simulate that.  Still learning how to use the flippers properly as I haven't played much real pinball in a long time, then to try to get the vp ones to perform the same I think will be the biggest challange.  Also keep getting the calipers out and measuring things, many things to tweak and then of course change on all my tables.  I am building a base blank table as I go along and hopefully that will help all future tables I make start from a good point.

One setting that adds a lot of random to a table is the one called "Playfield Scatter" found on the backdrop setting, Physics & Graphics. Set that value to 5 and when the ball hits anything some random will be added to the bounce, independent of what is set for the scatter for that object.

The plunger has also a parameter under State & Physics, Scatter Velocity, which can be used to make the plunger less predictable.

Thanks JP, I had just found the Scatter Velocity for the plunger when i was typing that up, do you have a suggestion for a good value on that? I just glanced at Smurfette, Papa and El Beuno to get an idea and see you have 0 scatter velocity on all of them.

Thanks also for pointing me at the Playfield Scatter, I'll be sure to add that in.

Was it intentinal (or is it my config) that the Player 1 score flashes with a left flipper press, and the Player 2 score flashes with a right flipper press?

I had not noticed that, and still haven't, something in your configuration, although I can't think of what would do that. Sounds cool though :)

Just starting to mess with VPX after being away for ages, and this is one of the first tables I downloaded for it. Very impressive work, and Joker Poker is a fun table.

Congrats on getting the real machine...Looks in beautiful shape from the pics I saw of it.

I'm looking into building a EM-based original for VPX so I may be asking folks some questions at some point how some things are done.

Thanks! The real one is a lot of fun, a few playfield insert issues but overall pretty nice. Still messing around with the physics on the VP version to get it closer to the real one, a frustrating task, lots of variables, get it working good for one thing and it messes something else up.
