File Name: Aladdin's Castle FS B2S DOF

File Submitter: mjr

File Submitted: 06 Aug 2015

File Category: VP 9.x Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): mjr
Itchigo
Greywolf
Manufacturer: Bally
Year: 1976
Media Pack: Link to Media Pack
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

This is a new, overhauled Aladdin's Castle, based on Itchigo's full screen version of 8/2014, which was in turn based on Greywolf's older desktop version.  Full screen version optimized for cabinet use, with B2S and DOF support.

This version has lots of new and improved graphics and many scripting improvements to make the game play and rules more authentic.  It features a new operator's menu that you can use to adjust all of the features that were available on the original EM table; simply open the coin door on your cabinet or press the End key to bring up the menu (the menu is only available when a game isn't in progress).  It also records the top four high scores to date and displays them on the backglass.

This download includes a B2S backglass that coordinates with the table.  I included it here because it has some special features that are closely coupled with this particular version of the table, such as the high score display.  But you can run the table with or without B2S.

This uses gtxjoe's Visual Pinball\User\cController.txt file to set the controller type (see http://www.vpforums....showtopic=30210).  If you've already set up a cController.txt file for other tables, this table will automatically use your current setting.  You can use this to tell the table whether or not to use B2S and DOF.

Just picked up an Aladdins Castle last week.

Nice to see this to go along with it on the virtual.

Looks and plays great and I love the added features and attention to details.

After reading through the script I can not see how to display the High Scores on the third screen. They come up on the sticky note over the flippers and that is great but there seems to be no way to see the sticky note otherwise? I am missing something I'm sure.  I have a 3 screen cabinet and I am thinking that the sticky note should be on the 3rd screen where the DMD normally resides.

The wire under the right flipper seems to be transparent, and the plunger animation is missing on my cab also. It might just be me and the late night working on this ...

 thanks for the great table

I don't see the sticky note either, Les. Hope that can be fixed. I rarely play tables that don't save highscore

- click on the wall under the right plunger ant set the top image to siderails (like the wall under the left flipper)

- for the plunger animation use the New VP plunger mods VP Version from mjr. By the way, I love the new plunger skript :)

Right, it should be showing on the third screen in lieu of the DMD.  You are running the included B2S backglass, right?  That's where the third screen display comes from in this setup - the VP table itself just sends updates to B2S to do the display.  Is your backglass otherwise working?  And are you sure you're using the .directb2s file in the zip file (not some other version)?  The third screen should show a Bally logo with the high score sticky note the entire time the table is running.

Yes, ok that was my thinking. Yes everything runs great and all up to date. I used only the b2s from your download (really convenient btw) that was included. I do not see the Bally logo at all, so I wonder if it is below the second screen in windows land someplace. I will do some more on it tonight.

Thanks - just fixed it in my copy.

I just noticed that there's another bug - the cabinet tilt feature isn't working properly.  (It detects the tilt but doesn't actually enforce it - it lets you keep playing.  A little too liberal to be authentic. :))  I've fixed that as well.  I'll upload a new version in a couple of days (want to wait a little bit to see what other bugs people find).

Okay, let me know if you can track down what's going on!  If you find that there's something that needs to be fixed in the .directb2s I'll get that in the next update.  On my cab I didn't have to do anything special - it just automatically displays in the same place as all of my other B2S DMDs.

One thing that comes to mind: B2S has an option to let VPinMAME handle the DMD display instead of B2S  You might try right-clicking on the main backglass area once it's displayed and check your Visibility options to make sure B2S is showing the DMD.

Huh, I'm at a loss - it just works for me, I didn't have to do anything special.  I'm assuming other 3-screen B2S tables work on your system?  E.g., do you get the speaker panel graphics with the cellar award lights on Whirlwind?

By way of sanity check, is there anybody who can report it *IS* working for them?  The high score display on the third monitor, I mean.

I don't see anything on the third screen either. Also, can't get DOF to work at all...the b2s backglass works but no DOF. I tried changing the option in the script as well. My dofconfig is updated.

Two minor issues.
Some pixels of the apron are transparent, Bally logo and stickers,

this is due because the playfield has the color black as transparent.
The rivets of the bracket of the gate and the spinner does not look right,

jpg images do not work well with the transparency, png or bmp are fine.

@Krakerman see the post n7, this table requires vpinball-9.9.1-plunger-mods to see the plunger.

Thanks, nice table.

Max

What option in the script did you try?

And of course you have to get an update of the DOF config tool database as of yesterday or today, since the table config was just added yesterday.

The B2S settings that seem to work for me are:

Grill: Standard, DMD: Visible, B2S DMD: Visible

I think the key one is B2S DMD: Visible.

Hi mjr-

My mistake. Apparently my auto batch file didn't grab the new DOF config yesterday....I updated manually and DOF is working great now. Thanks! Awesome table!
