File Name: Gold Wings (Gottlieb 1986)

File Submitter: 32assassin

File Submitted: 26 Apr 2015

File Category: VP 9.x Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): 32assassin
Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Year: 1986
Permission to MOD?: Unspecified

Play with VP 9.9.x

Big Thank you to
SirChedder - high quality plastic scans
CaptinNeo - high qualty PF scan (picture)
Zany, UncleWhilly - 3D models
freneticamesic - bumpers,  not 100% accurate but its the best I could find.
Hmueck - original VP8 table used to build this one.
Kiwi - primitive loop ramp

known bugs
Slingshots  - get stuck some times,  if the ball hits them again they auto-correct.
GI animation
Based on this video

the GI animation does not match my settings, after reading the manual.  I came to the assumption;  the GI animation is run by an external board,  not sure if PinMAME emulates it, or how to get the rom IDs.
Rom animation is based on lamp ID = 0.

Thanks for credits, but the VP8 table was made by destruk, not me. :)

I think I saw your media pack in the related media section and thought it was the table.

Hi. Table looks good. I do get an error when loading the table in vp 9.9 in my xp cabinet. I have not touched the script except change to option 3 b2s

Error: Fatal error hresult8876086c at renderdevice: CPP: 506

I updated my cab with the latest vbs files for vp10 earlier today but other tables I have tried seem to work. Anyway just wanted to let you know

Edit: OK... Scratch that. Must be my system. I tried the new Rambo table and got the same error and that one used to work before the new vbs got installed. Sorry for the bother.

Now to troubleshoot. PS! Everything else seems to work ok(even raven, that rambo is based on works fine)

Any tips out there would be appreciated.

Table looks great. I've been working on it tonight. It does need the physics tweeked when playing on 9.9. Seems very floaty, almost like a FP table. I took the slope min diff. to 8.5 and the max to 10.25, which felt about 'right' to me. I had to juice the flippers quite a bit at that point (speed and power), which felt pretty good, but now when I hit the ramp it's like a jump and throws the ball into the rear right plastic. I guess it needs a wall behind it now. I don't have it blinding fast mind you.

I'm not tearing your build apart, it looks really nice. I own a lot of real pinball machines so I can feel when the physics are not quite right. I hope someone with more skills than I have can fine tune this table a little bit better than I can.

+1 on too floaty, but great looking build.  Thanks.  Love the ball save thing, very unique (I think)

Not that you see it anymore but that set of plastics I had was both battered up and bleached to oblivion. Assassin did an awesome job redrawing them as they have an high amount of transparent and semi-transparent parts - and like most scanners mine doesn't do transparencies.

That and the fact that on this table plastics are stacked up to 4 levels high make this an pretty challenging build. Kudos to Assassin for pulling it off.

@Assassin sorry that I never came back to you for the translite pictures and that lamp behavior you requested. There wasn't much opportunity to visit my pal in the last months :(

Very nice Assassin, the table looks totally real, kudos to you and all that contributed!

When I looked at your screen shot at work I thought you had stuck up a photo or the real table, until I loaded the table that is.

Thanks very much for sharing!

I know this table was a long time in the works, congratulations on this release - looks great and it's a table that really benefited from being updated.

Table looks really nice!  Can't wait to try it.  The plastics do look like they would be a PITA to work on.  Appreciate the hard work.

When I launch this table in VP9.90a or 9.91 I don't get a DMD at all.  I assume I should get something.

There is no dmd .. the scores are in the backglass. Some backglasses dont include a placeholder image for the dmd area. In those cases you can uncheck the hide dmd in pinballx and have the manufacturer logo left there during game play.

(Assumes you have the manufacturer game logos in place in pinballx directory structure)
