Hi,

I'm testing an EM pin recreation for someone.  I'm trying to figure out what causes the clicking sound as the backglass score advances.  I've commented out almost all playsound "blah" type entries from the vpt script and yet the sound remains.  Is it something built into the directb2s backglass?

In case you're wondering why I'm trying to find and turn off this sound, it's because I've recorded the bell sequence from the real pinball machine.  When the vpt script code issues a playsound "tenones" or something similar, the sound is chopped up from the score click sound that we can't find.

I hope that makes sense!

I'm wondering how to do that as well, I want to disable the EM reels sound which is way too loud...

Any help appreciated folks :-)

Normally, a sound like that is embedded into the table.  When you load the table into the editor go to Table->Sound Manager where you will find a list of embedded sounds (usually the mechanical sounds like bells, chimes, reel sounds etc.)  You can export these sounds to a file, edit them in a sound editor program and reimport them back into the table.

Hope this helps.

I tried that but I didn't recognized that EM reel score sound in the VPX sounds samples (bell, target, chimes, etc.).

For example, if you take the table Gemini - or any table with an EM reel typically the late 70's Goettlieb's- you can delete all the sounds in the sound manager of VPX and you will still have the EM reels sound (super loud) on your DMD speakers...

So it has to be related to the backglass.

Maybe it's a line to comment or modifiy in the B2S.vbs script ? I can see some "ReelPulses" and "b2sScoreSounds" mentions here, maybe that's where we can find the trick but I'm not a programmer ;-)

It's something in the b2sserver and the directb2s file that does that.  Not sure what and I've made several of them, someone with more knowledge of the backglassdesigner will hopefully chime in.

Now that the dream team has the b2sserver code let's hope they will make it sexier and add the option to change the volume level ;-)

I've noticed that the sound quality of VPX is better (in the DMD speakers) when the volume is set low (like 33%) while the amplifier at 100%, rather than the amp at 50% and VPX at 60%+. It's the same listening volume level but the quality is better with the amp at 100% and VPX at 30-50%.

But when I have the amp at 100% then every sound coming from the b2s is terribly loud, so is the EM reel one.

Did you ever figure this out?  I am going crazy with this as well.  The sound isn't in the sound manager. I just upgraded my cabinet to SSF and everything is great but the EM reel issue.

I know it's old topic...but hopefully someone has solved it.

the sound is embedded in b2s, and it is in raw format (or looks to be)
No easy way to change it or anything

the only (kind of) fix I ever figured out is to create your own reel set  and save it as LED in the backglass design editor, with LED sets you have no mechanical sounds. It works on a couple I have tried but not all. The only problem with this is you have to get familiar with the backglass editor and have some photoshop knowledge  to make the reel sets.

since the source is now on github it is now easy to add issues or requests.

And if you have a solution, a pull request does magic :)

I can take a look, how to deactivate any sound from the B2S Server. Maybe as a setting on table level?

Please add an issue on github :)

The same discussion continued here as well

And in this post I have an intermediate solution which allows to deactivate the sounds on directb2s file basis. Only for files using reels...
