I just so happen to own an Atari Space Riders playfield and plastics.  I want to get some good pics of it and do a redraw of it, but I would need someone to build it in VP9 or 10 (It's currently built as a VP8 desktop table).  Any table authors out there willing to tackle this?

I was also thinking of making an improved version of the original by moving the scoring into a redrawn backglass instead of in the apron.  I will also draw the backglass and add boxes for scoring/credit/ball no. if someone would be willing to make a db2s out of that.

Destruks version looks pretty good. I haven't downloaded it.but take a look. Dboyrecords has the backglass done as well. I believe he is also working on various conversions to FS so perhaps this is on his plate.

And the spanned table shouldnt take much to convert to a FS.

Would have to check if the authors allow mods before posting any FS conversion.

I've got a pretty nice conversion ready to go next week, if that counts. ;)

What do you think of the idea of moving the scoring into the backglass like a normal table?  I mean, since it's virtual and we can make improvements, I think it would be a better table with the scoring in a more traditional place.  I can work up the backglass with scoring boxes if the think you could make it work.

It would work pretty easily, but I personally am kind of a purist and prefer it as is. But if you want to work up the image, it's easy to add scoring to bg.

I was a kid of 13 when the first Atari tables were arriving, and had been playing for a few years at the Drive-In snack stands. I agree that scores should remain on the apron. It's historical importance shouldn't be revised.

In their era, these wide body Atari's felt very cutting edge and futuristic, in sound, appearance, and design. It upped the ante in the eyes of the big three, and we players were rewarded with some of the best tables ever created over the next few years.

I firmly believe that Atari, with the money it had from it's video game empire scared the Chicago pinball empire into a desperate creative frenzy. It was a great time to be a young pinball junkie.

I have nothing against someone wanting a traditional backglass setup for themselves, but wouldn't want to see the Atari originals replaced with it

If I ever get around to this table and I do a move of the scores to the BG, I would also want to do a version that was unaltered.  Win/win!
