File Name: Excalibur (Gottlieb 1988) Desktop VP9.9

File Submitter: mfuegemann

File Submitted: 09 Jan 2015

File Category: VPinMAME 9.x Recreations

Author(s): mfuegemann
Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Year: 1998
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

This is Excalibur by Gottlieb, Desktop edition.

Resources have been very hard to find, so I want to thank most of all the pinball owners from pinside.com. All were willing to help and Maralb, Whysnow and Gaspumprob sent me images of their machines, so that I was able to redraw the playfield and the plastics. Akiles provided good images too, that showed the table layout in good detail.
Again I had no manual, so the VP8 table made by Destruk and Jive gave me the correct switch and light numbers and showed the way, the solenoids are working.
Additional Thanks go to Fuzzel for providing the lightmap images for the inserts, Kodiac for the flipper primitive routine, JPSalas for the fading flasher code, dboyrecords for playtesting and to Inkochnito for the DIP switch settings code.

Please be aware that You need to adjust the Novelty setting within the DIP switch menu to "normal" if You want to collect the Extra Ball (F6 opens the Dip switch menu).
I was really disappointed, as I managed to sink all the Drop Targets during Multiball and made the center ramp to find out, that I did not.
Please change the DIP switch settings only between games or restart the table completely, as this table uses light triggered solenoids again, that rely on the state of a particular lamp to work.

And yes, there are no slingshots on this table. One additional funny feature is that there are 3 balls installed, to meet the trough switch setup, even if there is only a 2-ball Multiball.

Have fun and please use the support topic to post any findings and suggestions.

I have a problem with this table: When it starts I get the following error message:

Line 1
the object does not support this property or method:
'mSlingBump(...).SlinshotStrength'

I use VP 9.9.0 and SYS80.VBS 3.43

Any help, Thanks

Hi jupiter01,

error in line 1 will be risen if some command is not suported by an object (i.e. drop a wall that is set to non droppable). I will look into this.

Edit: could You please PM me the exact error message? I cannot replicate the behaviour with any old version of VPin.

Regards

Michael

Well, when I try to start the table I get a first windows with the following message:

VBScritp
procedure call or argument invalid (in spanish)

when I press accept, appears another window with the message:

Script Error
Line 1
the object does not support this property or method:
'mSlingBump(...).SlinshotStrength'

I note that the line 1 of the script is '#############, and the first valid line is the 20 option Explicit.
Moreover, throughout the scrip there is no the word "mSlingBump"

The truth is that I have similar problems with some other tables newly created, and I don't know why.

Thanks in any case.

Hi jupiter01,

the only occurance of that code line, I found, is in the core.vbs.

I assume, You may have a corrupted VPin installation - the best solution would be to redownload the VPin.exe.

For a quick fix, You may delete or comment line 245 - vpmNudge.TiltObj = ...

And on other tables the SolGameOn call (if possible).

Regards

Michael

...I get the same thing,

and commenting line 245 helps :) thanks.

and perhaps you forgot to also change this line?

 Controller.SplashInfoLine="Devil's Dare" & vbNewLine & "created by mfuegemann," & vbNewLine & "artwork by Francisco666"

ouch - thanks for mentioning, Mrhide.

One more idea on the cause of the error: please check out the version of the vpinmame.dll, You are using. For me 2.5 runs fine.

OK, Thanks

Deleting the line 245 I still get the message:

VBScritp
procedure call or argument invalid

but when I press accept the table starts correctly.

What I do not understand is about redownload the VPin.exe. I install the game through the setup of VPinball990_Full.zip

Hi jupiter01,

it was a guess, as for me VP9.9.0 is working without any problems. At the moment I am leaning more towards a corrupted or not matching vpinmame.dll.

I have VP9.9.0 crashing with some versions of vpinmame.dll.

As the nudging commands are processed by the vpinmame.dll, identify Your version and try some of the versions from the download section.

I am running VP9.9.1 with VPinmame2.5.

Works nice in Physmod5 with just the typical adjusting.
