Jurassic Park (Data East 1993) Mod/Update Desktop version VP990 recreation.

Initial release

"If it's not Jurassic Park - it's extinct!"  We really tried to raise the bar on this table!

This is a complete overhaul update to Bmiki75's Jurassic Park

Credits:
Bmiki75 - original author whom we thank for his gracious blanket permission to mod.

UncleWilly - The legendary table author who handled coding and the table logistics that made this update possible.
LoadedWeapon: The 'night mod master' who laid down all the core ground work for the updated lighting on this table.
Dark(myself): Responsible for many custom made 3D models including but not limited to the TRex, artwork and custom flasher reflections/highlights.

Additional credit to Francisco666 and Rom for resources from their FP version.  A few of the models from the FP version were used, the mosquito, the pterodactyl and the TRex sign box which were so well done I saw no purpose in re-doing them myself.
Also thanks to zany for primitive pop bumper caps and flasher domes! Thanks buddy!

__________________________________________________________________________

So much was done for this update it's practically a new table, with a full compliment of custom made primitives, new flasher lights and of course a fully 3D animated TREX model that will swallow your balls! :P
No effort was spared in making this update as accurate to the real thing as possible, many small details such as custom flasher reflections, primitive metal walls that mirror mod the ball and many bug fixes.  To learn just about everything that was done of this update you can see the WIP thread here: http://www.vpforums....ic=29120&page=1
__________________________________________________________________________

On start up options menu:

When you first start the table you will be prompted with a checkbox menu which allow you to customize some features of the game they are as follows:

Disable:

  • Start up menu (prevents start up menu from appearing next load up)
  • Night mode (enables day mode instead)
  • Black posts (enables yellow instead)
  • Black rubbers on flippers (enables red rubbers instead)
  • Extra lighting reflections (requires a restart of VP)  (disables extra lighting in the event you want to change backdrop settings or get a small increase to performance)
To reset the registry so that the menu will come again see LINE 128 in the script:
' SaveValue cRegistryName, "Options", 0 : Exit Sub  ' This will clear your Registry settings if uncommented

Future updates will include physics tweaks and possibly a physics mod release.

1.1 - Trex multiple bow fix
Trex would bow down multiple times some times to pick up the ball, this fixes it so it only bows down once.
My apologies that this update doesn't include physics or ball collision, but it's been decided that this table will be converted to VP10.

Enjoy!

You can also press f6 during gameplay to restore the default values by unchecking everything in the dialog menu

"it will all be ok in the end, if it's not ok, it's not the end"

Yea it could of been made a bit smaller but removing some more of the older images but it would of been a pita,  we removed most everything that wouldn't cause any error.

The DT version is AWESOME TOOOOOO!! :D
VERY well done guys!!!

Best part about DT version is you can see the amazing (primitive) ball swallow animation UncleWilly made.  Used the same primitive ball we used for Frankenstein just moved the pivot to match the Trex.  :P

I sampled the actual trex mechanical sounds from videos of the table like the trex picking the ball up, ball rolling in mouth+swallow+hit ball subway and trex mechanical chewing sounds, which UW also did a great job at pairing up with the animations.

I also wanted to mention if you wanted to play with the TREX a bit, you can enter diagnostic menu by holding key 8 then pressing 7, press 7 repeatedly until you reach trex diagnostic menu.  From the Trex diagnostic menu you can press and hold left or right flipper to move left or right, pull plunger to trigger jaw movement and press and hold start to make the trex bend over.  You need to note however that it will only bend at the one axis points so what you have to do is hold start while moving left and right and when it hits the appropriate angle it will begin to bend over.  To return to swiveling back and forth hold left or right flipper while the trex is standing back up and when it hits the fully up right position it will begin to move left or right.

Make sure you're using VP990+, that line of the script just refers to saving registry settings in regards to the start menu (F6), you could try un-commenting line 128 to reset the registry entry then re-comment.

Great table!

I increased the dampening speed to 70 and lowered the flipper strength to make it more like what I'm accustomed to, but very nicely done!

1.1 is up, it's just a small bug fix update to fix the Trex bowing multiple times.  Sorry this update doesn't include any thing else, the reason for this is because JPark is set to be converted to VP10 some time down the road.
