Banjo-Kazooie: The Pinball Adventure ver 2.2

Version: 2.2.2
Category: VP 8.x Originals

Author(s): Theguyoverthere

Description:
The new and improved Banjo-Kazooie project that went into hiding for a year or so.
Well, I've decided now would be an alright time to release what I've got. This is version 2.2, and it definitely has some changes. A difficulty setting has been added, and a whole new Jiggy system that makes it so you don't have to beat EVERY SINGLE mode.

I just added this new jiggy system so it needs some good testing. The way it's supposed to work is that for every mode you start the first time, you get some jiggies and for every mode you beat for the first time you also get jiggies. On normal difficulty, you need 94 jiggies to beat the game. This works out to having to complete every mode except for a couple. It's more or less depending on difficulty settings.

I almost forgot the largest change I made. To get to Furnace Fun, all you have to do is START all the modes! That's right. No need to beat every single one of them just to get to the mini-wizard mode. After all modes have been started, and have 765 notes or more, furnace fun should be lit, as long as there's only one ball in play.

I'm kind of worried as to how many bugs and glitches are present, but hopefully not too many shine through. The only time stuff starts happening really strange is once you get to the final battle and such. Please document any weird things and tell me about them smile.gif Also, you can use the B key to add and remove balls from the trough and the key to lower Sharkfood Island if any balls get stuck in there..

So enjoy, Banjo-Kazooie Pinball 2.2. You can hit the R button to get basic rules, or you can read up on the lengthy rulesheet, or you can figure it out yourself. Just remember, the more modes you have going on at once, the more each one of them is worth!

Feedback is very, very, very much appreciated, thank you!

UPDATE: I just updated it with version 2.2.2. There are some nice fixes of things I was noticing. It probably won't seem to make much of a difference, but a couple of the things were final battle/furnace fun things. Please alert me of ANY weird behavior, so I can look into it and get it fixed smile.gif

Thanks for that...fun game...although I don't know the original characters on which the game is based.

I got 93 Million.

I think the ball saver times are perhaps a little too generous.

Well done,
Dan.

The table is based on the N64 game of the same name. It was kind of like Donkey Kong Country, but with a bear and bird.

Glad to see you had a good game. How far into did you get, if you remember? I know the ball saver is a bit generous, but if you want you can change it. The timer that controls it is called BallSaver. Or, you could just choose to play a 2 ball game instead of a three ball game tongue.gif As a last resort you can change the difficulty to make it harder, but that makes beating the modes harder also. Maybe I'll make the ballsaver time user-definable. Thanks for the comment(s), keep them coming!

Houston, we have a problem.
Thank you very much, I'll get on that right away.

If you want to fix it yourself, go to the script and do a control+F for "Sub GameReset()" and then in the sub, type:
CODE
modestart(0)=0
    modestart(1)=0
    modestart(2)=0
    modestart(3)=0
    modestart(4)=0
    modestart(5)=0
    modestart(6)=0
    modestart(7)=0
    modestart(8)=0
    jiggs=0

in there.
Sorry about that.

The table file itself is only 9MB or so, the rest is the music. You only need to download the music once though, as any updates use the same music pack. smile.gif

Crap, I don't know what to do. I should have made the music separate. I'll update the file I guess, but it'll only help new people who download it. The rest of you who already downloaded it will just have to make the minor script changes.

EDIT: File has been updated, so this problem is now fixed for anyone who downloads it in the future. For you lucky folks who got it before I updated, you can eaasily fix it in the script like I mentioned. Sorry about that...

Who wants to play competitively from people all around the world? Well, now you can with the new script. Simply open up Visual Pinball, open Banjo Kazooie pinball, then click on Script, then do Control+A to select everything, delete it, then copy and paste the new script I've attached. After each game is completed, the game will now give you the option to submit your score!

Has anyone tried out the score sending at all? It works on some computers, but others it doesn't for some reason. If anyone has tried it, let me know smile.gif I posted a topic in the help section about sending email through visual pinball... but haven't gotten a response yet. If I can't figure it out, I might just get rid of that feature sad.gif Would anyone like it if you could send your scores in, to make it more competitive and fun?

The people from pinballunlimited used to use something like that for their tournaments... except it worked on almost every computer and was more secure...or something.

those 'broken' targets are actually bullseye targets but because of the dark backgrounds they do look odd. I haven't figured out how to get around that yet, so I am going onward to the plastics and walls for now, and will get back to those darn targets later when I can figure out a solution for them.
Oh, do you have a preference to sling rubber color? i can make them any color you want!

oh ok, thanks!! brown it is!! and I'll try to redo those bullseye targets I just can't seem to make them look any better than what you see, so maybe that shape isn't the best here, no matter though.... I'll think of something...ONWARD HO
oh do you want anything for the sling plastics? like a picture of banjo or kazooie or anything like that? I can go online for pics if you don;'t have any and want some over the sling rubbers.

I kind of wanted ship propellers but it never worked out well.. The slingshots are each supposed to represent a propeller as you try to get them both up to full speed to start the Rusty Bucket Bay mode...
