are there any good low profile video cards out there?  wanna use the computer I have (core 2 duo 3 ghz).  Or should I upgrade the motherboard?  don't want to spend too much $$

was gonna use a gtx 560 ti from a friend but the layout of the motherboard wont allow the card to fit (its too long)

*edited to clarify

you could go for a GTX 560 (Ti), 660 or even for the new 750 (although we are still missing tests with VP on that one, maybe i should do some at some point)..

what gfx card do you have currently?

If you need a low profile card it's because your case is to small, so you just need a new full size PC case and transfer all the parts to it, also that 560 you mentioned in the other thread needs at least a 500 watt power supply which would not be what you have now. So you need a new 500 watt power supply and a new full sized PC case and then transfer of the parts to the new case, although again you may run into trouble with that propriety motherboard as it may not have a standard layout or mounting points, it might though. So a new budget case and power suppy should be about $100 or you might be able to get these second hand for half that price though I'd be dubious about a second hand power supply.

Stev, the motherboard layout is the problem.  so I am looking at either: keep the 560 ti, buy a power supply and replace the motherboard, and get a case or just mount the components in the pincab.  or look for a low profile video card that will be suitable.  Is that 560 ti overkill anyways?

No the GTX 560 ti is an ideal choice, for the $50 you mentioned, it's a bargain. If it's for a cab then just get a new motherboard and power supply, no need for a case as you can just mount the bare board inside the cabinet.

Also you will not find a low profile graphics card that is powerful enough to run VP anywhere near as well as the 560 will.

I replied in the other thread. I'd suggest going the MB route since there is no guarantee that even a low profile GDDR5 video card will still fit your current MB.
